Roku and Chromecast on the Same TV?
Has anyone ever tried it? I have a pretty cheap Polaroid set I found on HUKD and recently purchased the Chromecast to broaden my selection of services. I have no complaints at all with Chromecast, I think it's brilliant and works absolutely perfectly with Youtube, Netflix et al and the casting capabilities and possibilities with it are endless. However, the only thing that it is missing is a decent Sports service. BT Sport is quality and I will in all likelihood get that for next season or more likely the season after when the Champions League gets broadcast on there, but Sky is the bread and butter and SkyGo or even Now TV don't ever look like their getting on Chromecast, for reasons that I just cannot comprehend.
That is where Roku comes in; I have seen the Streaming Stick advertised for around £50, which is pricey compared to the Chromecast, but it has that all important Now TV app and a few others which look interesting. Do you guys think it's worth the extra outlay on top of the Chromecast, or should I adopt a wait and see approach to see if are any developments in time for the start of next season? Is there any one here who has both? If so, which of the two do you prefer? |

If you want NowTV specifically, then a YouView box might be a fuller-featured solution depending on what else you have available.
As well as NowTV, it has all the free catchup services, and can of course record Freeview HD etc. New, unwanted TalkTalk boxes can be had for little outlay. |
