I've heard that Sam Smith song "Stay With Me" doing the rounds on the radio the past couple of weeks. I can't help thinking it sounds like Won't Back Down by Tom Petty.

Ditto...saw that on TV last night...took me ages to work out what it reminded me of.

It actually reminds me of Emeli Sande's "Next To Me"
Anyway, it is awful, derivative dirge whatever way you look at it.
Sad to see it is topping the iTunes chart here

I love it. I think it's nice. Makes a change to see something that isn't dance crap doing so well. Damn sight better than the current number 1

Doesn't remind me of Next to me at all. Especially as Next to me is more upbeat.

Incredibly boring. It's a shame, but i've not enjoyed any of his stuff since Latch - I had high hopes too. This is an improvement on Money on my Mind though.

I think he is the male Emeli Sande dull derivative and bland but has promise.

I like the song a lot and am looking forward to Sam Smith's album...he's one of my favourite current male artists, along with the similar John Newman.

I think that track Nirvana on his EP is better than anything he's put out as a single yet. Stay with Me is as cloying as Money on my Mind was annoying. I have high hopes for him but yeah, not so much into these singles.

I think he's fantastic. Who is he managed/signed to? His promo strategy has been amazing. La, La, La (number 1) and Latch got him known. Then we've had Money On My Mind which also went to number 1, and now Stay With Me which also looks as if it will go to number 1. His EP was amazing too. I agree with the poster above though who said the song Nirvana on his EP is amazing...it really is so, so good!! Also noticed that the U.S love him. His track Leave Your Lover is currently top of the US iTunes chart...does that mean the album is already out in the US as I think that track is from his album as far as I know? He's had a lot of success and that's without even releasing an album...I suspect the album will do very, very well and deservedly so judging by the previews I've heard and his other output. He seems like a really ncie guy and he's really talented with a great voice...nice to see something other than generic dance crap topping the charts. I do think though that all of the tracks on his EP should have made the album...especially Nirvana. I actually think Money On My Mind is my least favourite song for him, but I do think it was a good choice for him to release as his first solo single to get him out there. Think he's great though!

Pretty much the same melody in the chorus... Both have different positive characteristics too!

He's actually quite the flamboyant and interesting character;

It's a shame his record label have squeezed the life out of him and forced him to be something he isn't to appeal to mainstream "straight" taste.

He has a really awful whiny and nasal singing voice. He's terrible and his new song is annoying because the media seem to be obsessed with playing it over and over again.
