I'm sorry your mother's a dick splash.

Hoping Toad (Todd) will get bored of his smarmy power games and leave Weatherfield as soon as. I really don't care if Marcus goes too, he's weak for letting Todd manipulate him and then still wanting to be with him.

I love her, but yeah, her views aren't great, but she can't help it, its her religion sadly.

Thing is, if things like Marcus and Todd engaging in normal affectionate couples behaviour isn't depicted in regular shows, then how are people ever going to view it as just average and every day.

It's not a thing, it's two humans being in a relationship.

Oh please, the good old "won't somebody think of the children?", a.k.a a load of rubbish.

Do you think it's inappropriate when straight couples show affection on the show? For some reason, I don't think so.

Why are you even comparing gay kisses to siblings kissing? In what way are they related?

But surely the point is that they're not engaging in normal affectionate behaviour. Todd is using PDAs to suit his agenda of winding people up (Maria, his mother), rather than out of any seeming genuine affection towards Marcus. In addition to which they are both being quite heartless towards Sean, flaunting their relationship in front of him in his own home.

I agree with others who have said that being taken in by Todd seems out of character for Marcus.

My problem is the personality changes and the changed premise of Marcus' relationship with Maria

Marcus never went "back in the closet". He was a gay man, who in this instance fell for a woman. This does happen in real life, and for some people sexuality is not the "set in stone" concept people think it is. Liam wasn't a component of them getting together. They fell for each other, and Marcus bonded with Liam. Marcus could have a child with another man - he was looking to adopt when he was with Sean. The notion that Marcus would automatically sleep with the first guy to come near him is silly.

As for Todd. When he arrived it was clear he had changed since he went to London. He was secretive and manipulative, and I was intrigued to gradually discover what events had caused this. Instead of exploring this angle, they have turned him into a pantomime villain, who is purposefully spiteful. It's like they wanted a male Tracy, now that she seems to have turned from spiteful bitch to a comedic character recently.

People are threatened because he took on a straight person and won.

He could crow from the rooftops as that straight person had nothing. NOTHING

he actually beat them at their own game

Even when this is with Maria he identified as being GAY but with Maria, When the sex stopped he had nothing. Except a nagging doubt for men with Todd took advantage off.

The fact that the sex stopped is a giveaway. He cant have had sex for quite a while. Plus with this Maria wants a house business. Todd was available so he took advantage

I think this is for the future. Todds first year will so him as a bad un but as time progresses he will get better. In that first year he got led on by a bisexual with kids and got hurt badly. He does tend to react to gay men posing as bisexuals, Maria was just in place to be dislodged

Well said and yes Marcus being taken in by Todd is completely out of character for Marcus.

I can see where the OP is coming from to some extent, I think what he means is would Marcus and Toad (haha) be all over each other quite so much in real life bearing in mind they hurt Maria? My theory would be who knows, it's written that way although Marcus does not strike me as the kind of person that would announce in a bistro that he's off to "have fun"..

Maria has upped the situation. Any normal person would have ignored it. Maria has purposely dragged the situation out dragging in Kirk, Tyrone, Fiz and all her zombies. She starts off the situation and expects Todd to bow down to her and then hides behind a zombie when things get heated.

Todd then fights them on his own. Marcus shrivels up like a mouse. No wonder he still yearns for London where he can be himself.

I agree with this. Marcus was never this cruel and uncaring before, it's very out of character for him. Even when he got with Maria, he was single, Sean barged into his home uninvited, he felt bad for Sean. Now he was actually with Maria, cared for her, and acts like this in front of her.
