Have these DVDs played on another DVD player successfully? Did you finalise the DVDs after recording?

Samsung advice to install upgrades unsuccesful. Any suggestions The disks are faulty. The laser in the player is dirty or worn out so cannot properly read the disks - recordable disks are far less reflective than commercial disks so a dirty/worn out laser might still be able to read commercial disks but not recordable types. The disks were not finalised in the recorder and the player does not know how to play un-finalised disks (even those recorded on a same make recorder!). The player doesn't like the particular type of disks you have used, though this is less likely with modern players. If you can, try the disks in a different player. If they don't play in anything then it's quite possible they have not been finalised. Which could be a problem if the recorder is no longer usable. If you are lucky an identical make and model recorder might be able to finalise the disks. Finding a machine though may be the hard part! |

Thanks bobcar/chrisjr for your suggestions.
Although I intended to finalise these recordings (TV Documentaries, films etc.) it seems as if I didn't.I will have another look at the R149 but I had already had it repaired once for an out of guarantee fault, and as I had upgraged my TV to Virgin TiVo I decided to go for just a DVD player.Oh well, you learn by your mistakes. Thanks anyway |

Long shot, if you have Nero on a PC try opening the disk on a PC using Nero Video. I was able to extract video content from a cousins unfinalised disk a few years ago.

Thanks for that Graham.I have actually managed to open some of them on the PC with"Power DVD" but i really needed them to play on the E360 through the TV.I know I could hook up the PC to the TV but was looking for the easy life.
Fortunately nothing really personal or important lost! |
