So Shirley is Mick's mother, and Stan is his father? I can't keep up.

It really is starting to look like Shirley is Micks Mum but I hope not

Mick is actually Shirleys dad.

If it turns out that Mick is Shirley's son then for the first time in a while, I'll actually be a bit disappointed with EastEnders. DTC said he doesn't want to do a Greatest Hits but this storyline has been done before, albeit with two women, but it's also been done in other soaps.

Has it been confirmed whether the twist is to do with this story? Could it be to do with the 'Rot in Hell' note? Masood would be a shock.

I hope not too. It's too much like the classic Zoe and Kat reveal. DTC don't rehash classics. That's what Hollyoaks are their for:

Cindy/Merc/Lynsey vs Browning----Sam/Zoe/Chrissie vs Den
Jims stabbing was an exact copy of Dennis stabbing
And Leela and Peri same as Kat and Zoe

DTC tweeted that this is an episode you're going to want to watch live, which makes me think something really big is going to happen.

This. You are exactly right, I don't see the issue! Though, I'm not sure the secret will involve Shirley.

But then I saw people saying on DS that it was a ridiculous rumour, and would never happen.

To be fair, it could be slightly different from the Kat/Zoe story if Shirley conceived the baby willingly (ie she wasn't raped.) But then it would be similar to the Ronnie/Amy story, and wasn't DTC part of the team who did that?

But next week, it says Mick and Shirley decide to move on. How could Mick move on from being drowned by his sister, or that his sister is realky his mother? ”

Perhaps only phill finds out the full truth tonight and it will be a while till Mick finds out the whole truth.
As we all know there will be further secrets as something big for the Carters will happen on christmas day.

Yep, it must be Carter related after all the build up. I don't know why but the Shirley drowning Mick seemed like an anticlimax to me. I don't think it will be Shirley is Mick's mother or anything though, if she was I would expect a Kat/Shirley conversation and we know that Kat is off screen at the moment.

The episode is written by Gillian Richmond. One of the best, if not the best, writers on the team.

Really looking forward to this.

Hope its more like her excellent episode she wrote in January. The one she wrote in April was disappointing in compassion.

I'm starting to hope that Stan isn't Mick's father and that Shirley is his mum. Stan would lose much of his hold on Mick and his family, Dean would be his brother, Linda would be and Mick would have a dad somewhere.

Maybe Mick is not a 'Carter', and he is Tina and Shirley's half brother.

Oh Christ, Dean would be Johnny's uncle. That means they'll never have a drunken fumble. Nope, don't approve.

Same, It would be interesting for Shirley to be him mum but that Stan isn't his dad. It would bring in all sorts of questions like, who is Mick's dad, Shirley's guilt for Stan putting him in care and for the drowning, the reaction from Linda and Tina and yep, Dean would have a brother. (I could imagine them as brothers actually). It would change the whole dynamic of the Carter clan.
It would be interesting though if it was Shirley who didn't want Mick to know the truth and not the parents. (like in Kat/Zoe)
