I think Mick is adopted or something like that

Dean and Mick as brothers would be very interesting.

I wonder if the fathers of Dean and Carly could be mentioned as well? Not sure how but it would be interesting.

I do think that Dean returning was for more than just giving Shirley a child to interact with...could Dean's dad be the same as Mick's?

All pure speculation. 7 hours to go!

I think Stan isn't Mick's dad. I reckon their mum had an affair and the reason Shirley tried to drown him was because Shirley found out and blamed Mick for causing her parents separation.

Do you think that family would be into adoption, they couldn't even look after their own kids properly let alone others.
I hope it has nothing to do with their family history, it's already confusing as it is, and making Shirley his mother is awful imo.

Yeh I don't think Stan is his dad, not sure why Shirley would drown him even if that was the case. Shirley always ranting at Stan, but she was the one who drowned her brother.

I'm wondering if Sylvie will show up tonight?
Would be fantastic if EE has got a big name lined up to play her and she makes a shocking entrance.

Stan has made this whole thing snowball. Stan first talked about the drowning incident to make Shirley not protest against him staying at the Vic. Surely if it was something that Stan didn't want Mick to know, he wouldn't have started all this?

But did she try to drown him. Stan said Mick was floating in the water and 'his mother' was just staring down at him. Did Shirley find him like that and freeze, just as she did when Nancy had her seizure.

Oh that would be a better scenario, I don't think it would be good for Shirleys character if she drowned Mick.

I do think that if it's not Mick/Shirley that is revealed, something else about Mick's childhood is.

I agree. I don't want Shirley's relationship with the rest of the Carters to be ruined.

I agree as well, I like that they have given her a family and don't want it to be ruined already, that definitely seems like a better scenario.

Just had a thought - could the drowning incident have led to Mick and Tina going into care? They had to go to the hospital.....

I could imagine a young teenager freezing, especially as it looked as if he was covered in blood...the red paint. Maybe this is when Stan put him in care, he didn't think Shirley could cope.

so Stan was telling the truth, if Shirley is Mick's Mum, then his mother did try to drown him..

I hope this theory is right. I think if it is, then Stan may have manipulated the situation and Shirley afterwards.

At first I was against the idea of Shirley being revealed as Mick's mother, but now I'm coming around to the idea. It would open up massive potential for the Carter family, and it would be a good explanation to why Shirley is overly protective of Mick. Look I know siblings generally are close and protective of each other, but Shirley brings it to a whole new level . And let's face it she is a lot more protective of Mick than she is with Tina.

Anyway, we will all find out this evening and let's hope the reveal is not underwhelming...But I don't think it will be.

What are the suppose ages of the carters anyway?

Danny dyer is 36 in real life, so if Mick is 36, then him and Linda must of had Nancy and Lee in their teens.

Luisa is 39 in real life and her character turned 40 but yet Tina remembers her mother the least and was a baby when the drowning incident happened, so she is therefore the youngest of the Carters. So Mick must be older than what the actor who plays him.

Linda is 51 in real life so i assume Shirley is the same age. So there must be at least a 10, perhaps a 12/13 year gap between her and Mick for her to be his mother

I don't really want a scene like "you aint my mother shirl" Mick walks off "yes i am your muvva Mick" Shirley cries. Mick turns around, stunned. Duff Duff

BIB: Agreed. There has been a lot of emphasis on Shirley and Mick's relationship over Mick/Tina or Shirley/Tina, maybe that was just to build up to the reveal of the drowning incident but I'd like there to be more of a twist.
