Should Kylie have released Sexercise as an actual single?

OK I have seen the video. I know it can be cringey but it is overall much better than the video for I Was Gonna Cancel. The "sexercise" balls could of had the chance to become iconic in some sort of way.

Seeing Kylie teach Alan Carr a Sexercise class on Chatty Man was hilarious too, could have been great promotion too!! Something about it that made it great.

Loads of people like dubstep too lol (as the track has dubstep elements).

What do you think? And why?

God no,It would only have reached no.69 probably.Just thirteen places lower than 'Cancel' managed. 'Cancel' is a great song.Should have been the lead single. The whole campaign massively mismanaged.and now. effectively.Kylie as a singles artiste in the UK is now dead in the water. And it's as funny as hell. I love a good flop.always have done. Shame. but she had a good 26 years.if you're being generous.

I can't stand Sexercise, both the song and video. They make me cringe and are just so wrong for Kylie, imo. It's like she's desperately trying to adopt Rihanna's sleazy image or something. I Was Gonna Cancel is a much better song although I think the video is very poor and let's it down, which is a shame. I hope whichever single she releases next it's got a decent video to accompany it!

Yes, the song should have lead the campaign in January. They could have done something spectacular for the promo but again Parlophone messed up.

Maybe not. Even when released as a promo song, it did nothing to make people wanna download it as a cherry pick or even want to pick the album up

I don't think there's anything on this album that screams hit. I like Kylie but this set of songs is pretty bland.

No. Skirt should be on the album in its place and Sexercize should have been a buzz single late last year

The one problem with iTunes is you can download any song you want from an album, so who is going to download a single when the album has been out since 17 March?

I bought the album the first day of release so no way am I going to download a single.

I don't agree I think there is loads of songs that could be hit singles but who is going to download singles when the album has been out for quite awhile now?

It should have been the lead single.

The buzz from the video (and the special website) would have done wonders for it.

The people that don't have the album already will buy the singles if they like them.

Sometimes I hear one track from an album that I love, but I don't want to buy the whole album. I love the song Only Love Can Hurt Like This by Paloma Faith (which was released after her album), so I downloaded it, but I don't want to buy the album.

I think so - the video created a buzz and the song is very "now" charts wise. They said Kylie was dead in the water charts wise in lets see - 1991, 1992, 1997....

The most obvious incentive to buy the single after the album is bloody B-SIDES!!! I don't see why Parlo cannot grasp this simple fact.

Tell me about it!!! They used to be so generous too. We got about 7 b-sides with both Fever and Body Language. Hell even Wow had 3 b-sides (all of which were better than the actual A side! ) Those were the days.

I think that is another reason her most recent singles (Get Outta My Way, Better Than Today, Into the Blue & Cancel) have struggled. Cancel is one of the laziest releases she's ever put out. The only plus was the fact it had gorgeous artwork.

I wonder if Kylie gets a say in this. She knows her fans love stuff like this. She sang a ton of them on her Antitour.

However, to answer the OP I don't think it would have made a particuarly good single, but it was good as a teaser. I can't wait to see it live. A mashup with Sensitized would be brilliant.

If that was the single and released round late January/early Feb when Blind Aufitions for the Voice were on the tune would of been a no1, unfortunately for her Parlo don't know shit

I think it had a shot of going top 10 if it was released as the lead single. The album is a whole is pretty mediocre IMO, none of the songs on it scream big hit.

No Cancel is a stronger song overall. Kylie and her ilk that have been around since the 80's are effectively now albums artists the time of them getting number ones is kind of over but never say never. Her singles should now aim to promote the album and I think Cancel does it much better especially as Pharell is the hottest thing in music right now.

It's a good album, but they are just not realising the right singles. Sexercise should have been the first one. With downloads and the rule where the 2nd single onwards cannot be in the charts without the album being released first, it's hard for the 2nd singles onwards to get in the charts these days.

Same here and I don't think it is correct as there are many instances of a number of singles being released prior to their parent album. See Iggy Azalea 4 singles before her album dropped.

True but Iggy was different as she was a new artist, plus three of those singles were not successful anyway. It took her till the fourth until she got a hit.

Kylie is so well established and well known, that only one song single should be enough to launch an album anyway. Plus she her stint her on The Voice kept her in the press and fresh in people's minds, so it's not as if they were not aware of new music.

Agreed LM.

But my reply was in response to a poster saying a second single as a download could not be released until the album has dropped which is clearly wrong hence the Iggy analogy .
