Vodafone are feeling skint due to changes to roaming charges so to combat this they are raising prices by 10%

The good news is you can leave without penalty if you write to them before the 28th June if it doesn't "get lost in the post"

Mobile operator Vodafone has announced price increases that could add more than 10% to UK customers' monthly bills if they stray beyond their monthly allowance.

The company has said that customers can leave their contracts without charge should they wish.

Customers who wish to leave must write to Vodafone before prices are raised on 28 June, the company said.

The move comes as Vodafone announced reduced European roaming prices.

"We really hope you decide to stay with us, but as these changes have increased your monthly bill by more than 10%, you can end your agreement without charge," Vodafone said.

A standard UK call will increase by 5p per minute to 45p, but the cost of a European call will fall by just under 6p per minute to 18.7p.

Wow they are risking a lot with that. Honestly confused why they deciding to raise the out of charges standard UK calls most on Vodafone have unlimited calls anyway.

Didn't Vodafone announce that they weren't going to increase prices anymore....

I know they meant tariff price and not out of allowance price but still....

Are there any more details about this anywhere, i.e does this apply to anyone even if i signed up for a 24 month contract with vodafone last week would this apply to me, and would that mean that i got to keep the phone for free?

Monthly fees are not going up at all.

Out of bundle non recurring prices are.

It's only out of bundle costs that are increasing, not your minimum monthly tariff. So if you send lots of pictures messages then you'd be in luck from what I can gather.

If Vodafone had announced increases over RPI on your line rental, then you could've exited your agreement early.

You missed Up To and never said it was monthly fees. Also I suggest you complain to the BBC as well

I just can't see why are putting up call charges out side of plans mins & texts when they have potts of money now with the sell off with Verizon, The have dropped roaming charges in the EU to £2 a day instead of £3 from July ? Has anyone had this text that Vodafone says customers entitled to leave will get?

What they are saying is the EU roaming rates hit the next cap on June 1st, so no network can charge more than the cap rate according to the EU (link).

Vodafone have put all their other prices up.

Data usage outside allowance has gone up
Was £6 for 250MB now £6.50 for 250MB

Calls per minute was 40p now 45p
0845 & 0870 was 14p now 20.4p
Calls to 118 directory services were £2.25 to £3.75 now a staggering £5.00 per minute

The information in the original post in incorrect, seems they just cut and pasted the headlines without including the conditions.
It should have been stated that only those affected by the price increases will be allowed to leave without penalty. Vodafone will identify those affected by looking at which customers have made regular, out of allowance calls, over the past three months.

You cannot just write to Vodafone and ask to leave unless Vodafone have informed you that you have the option.

Again, you have missed out important information when copying from your own links.

The amount charged on usage beyond a customer's allowance will rise, but contracts themselves will not change.

Vodafone will estimate how much bills will rise based on a three month profile of each customer's bill.

It will then warn customers if their bills are to rise above 10% and give them the right to leave the contract without charge.

But the company says if they wish to do so, they must write to Vodafone before prices are raised on 28 June.

I think it's stupidly crazy for it to be cheeper to phone from abroad at 18p a min rather than your own country on your own network at 45p a min.
Even though it's out of plan costs

Vodafone have decided to limit it to certain customers then that is up to them. They may get legal challenges or Ofcom may intervene which is possible. Ofcom are certainly keeping an eye on theses things.

I'd be amazed if any more than single digit % of people go outside allowances on a regular basis.

Which mean hardly anyone will see a price increase on Vodafone.

Shame the same can't be said of EE or O2 who will increase line rental charges for all customers.

I did completely miss that Vodafone's preferred 118 provider. I don't think it's anti-Vodafone to criticise the kind of overnight price rises for out of bundle costs, we're looking at...

45% increase in 0845, 0800 and 0870 calls
20% increase to out of bundle texts
12.5% increase in out of bundle calls
16% increase to send an international text

All this a fortnight after launching the fixed price contract promise

The problem I'm highlighting is shouting about fair prices and talking about Ofcom in the press release and how they know how consumers feel. they promise no surprises and talk of how important it is to be clear and know how much you're spending when you're locked into a long contract, and then 2 weeks later..

The out of bundle prices go up, not by RPI at 3% or anything, but a 45% increase to 0845, 0800 and 0870, which aren't included in your allowance.

You don't see anything wrong or two faced about that then Sethpit?
