DTC the hypocrite
What was that quote about him NOT doing "greatest hits"? Two-bit lush/Mick= Kat/Zoe.

It was my first thought as well... unless they're going somewhere else with this story, although I can't see what that might be.

He's really trying to make the audience like Shirley isn't he.

Making such a big statement then doing the opposite, should have never said anything like that if he wasn't going to keep to it. I don't know why they had to add this twist to the drama, the drowning thing was enough.

I thought it was a really good episode actually. Linda Henry is doing a great job.

Shirley will NEVER be as good as what Kat Slater was in her original stint.

I think this ruins a big part of the Carter dynamic. I'm very disappointed with it.

The audience does like Shirley, I think she is even pretty well liked on here. Most of the people who dislike Shirley tell us 1000 times over so it looks like a lot of people hate her.

I actually preferred the old Shirley, I don't like Shirley2.0
Previously she was great, her and Heather were rather good IMO. |

The main difference is that the audience now know, but Mick doesn't.

I started to loose interest in Shirley in 2009 when she got with Phil.
Previously she was great, her and Heather were rather good IMO. Anyway on a completely different note Shirley only looks about 2 years older than her son Mick. |

I like Shirley. I wouldn't rank her as one of the best EE characters but Linda Henry is certainly one of their best actresses and I can watch episodes where she is the lead feature. So I take that as a good sign. Quote:

He does seem to be going back on his original promise of not repeating some of the show's classic stories. To be honest, I think he was naive when said that as most soap fans know it's near impossible to tell a wholly original soap storyline. I suspected he wouldn't be able to keep to his promise.
That said, I don't think there was any need to make Shirley Mick's mother, if that really is the case. There's so many possible directions they could've taken it and they decided to go for the repetitive direction. The drowning aspect of the story was interesting enough, we don't need this. Disappointing really. |

As for the story being a greatest hit repeat, we'll have to see. This story is naturally going to be compared with you aint my muvva because it involves a mother playing the sister to thier unknown child. DTC will have to do something different though. To have Shirely raped would be such repetition. Been there and done that with both Kat and Ronnie. While I rather EE didnt go down the road, I am interested to find out how this enfolds. |

Don't know what everyone's so bothered about, most storyline ideas have been recycled, done before, anyone would think none of you have changed your mind or said something in haste before
I actually think they should be applauded for managing to keep this under wraps these surprises here and there are doing wonders for the show |

Shirley being Micks mum was one of those predictions made by fans you thought would never happen especially after everything DTC said. So they brushed the whole drowning thing under the carpet, Shirley answer is vodka she never faces up to her problems

I did enjoy that friendship, even though Shirley & equally Heather were both sh*t at times to each other.
Anyway on a completely different note Shirley only looks about 2 years older than her son Mick. |
