First Tablet Questions
TheVoid

So I got my first tablet today.

Do you have to restart them, or do you just litrally lock the screen when you've finished using it?

What class/type/speed of micro sd card should I get for running games and apps on please?

Thanks

Android or iPad ?

Most tablets are fine if you don't shut down. Normally just press the power button to put into standby mode.

As for micro SD, you might as well get a class 10 device seeing as they are so cheap these days.

Don't use any myself though that may change.

The way apps work is they run in a special 'virtual' environment which does not have access to system files. The biggest risk is to those that have rooted (gained admin access) their device so the apps do have access to system files.

It's well documented that Android is susceptible to virus and hacking but by how much is debatable so do some research to see what risks you are prepared to take. A lot depends on how and where you intend to use it also whether and where you intend to download any apps.

So apps aside, web browsing is no risk to a tablet in terms of a virus?

As far as I am aware it doesn't currently pose a risk on an iPad but I believe it does pose similar risks on an Android device as it would on a Windows PC. I do stand to be corrected on that. Clearly if I am correct then it would be advisable to have some form of antivirus software installed.

you'll be glad to hear that you are not correct. As per any O/S or App, make sure you are apply and security updates that are available.
