Coronation Street's Carla Barlow is rushed into hospital in tonight's episodes (May 23) as she suffers a baby scare.

Carla (Alison King) starts experiencing painful stomach cramps while home alone at the flat, but when she tries to phone her husband Peter, he fails to answer her call.

Peter ignores his phone ringing as Carla's brother Rob (Marc Baylis) has just rumbled his affair with Tina McIntyre, securing evidence of the fling at last.

Now certain that Peter (Chris Gascoyne) is a cheat, Rob heads to the flat to tell Carla - but his plans to expose the secret are thwarted when he realises that his sister needs emergency medical attention…

Carla is playing a great role at present, and I like the new, softer Rob. who is being protective of his sister. It will be interesting to see what he does about Peter and Tina's affair when Carla is well enough to be told.

Could explain why she is a suspect in tinas murder. She is upset at losing her baby and then finds out her husband cheated on her. 3 other suspects Peter , Rob and Tracey are also involved in the storyline.

Do we know for sure Carla has lost the baby?

I don't think she loses the baby this week as the spoilers say she announces her pregnancy at Rob and Tracy's engagement party next week.

My thoughts exactly Janet.

I never thought I would ever like Rob but his scenes with Carla have given him a deeper dimension - the actor works well alongside Alison King.
and I am glad that Carla will have a trusted ally as she is going to need one.

Roy supposedly will comfort her too. Which is great because scenes involving him are usually the least far out.

..........great to hear that, can never have too much Roy, his scenes with Carla prior to Hayley's death were too few, understated but brilliant all at the same time

I agree, which is why I will be disappointed if he is the killer and the actor is written out.

Would it kill for them to have a pregnancy of at least one of Peter's latest wives go to term.

I'll tell you what I predict will happen..... Carla will be fine at the hospital just usual pregnancy pain as every mother knows. Rob will kill Tina after confronting her about the affair Rob will then tell Carla everything and Carla confronts Peter who denies everything and things run smoothly for a while Carla has her next scan and find there is something wrong with the baby like downs syndrome or something along those lines she is then torn over what to do Peter is in despair what with Tina dying and now the baby having problems Peter hits the bottle again to drown everything out Peter with confess everything to Carla later in the year whilst drunk and they split up hence Peter leaving and Carla terminates the pregnancy because without Peter she won't want to bring up a child with problems

So glad to hear about Roy's involvement. It also makes a lot of sense given how much Hayley meant to Carla. I can't wait to see these scenes- two superb characters and gifted actors.

Downs syndrome is not a strong enough reason for abortion.

She would be to late to terminate really any way by then she had her 12 week scan 2 weeks ago so it won't be next week with get announcing it so she would be 15 weeks so the next scan would be around 20 weeks ish then they would have to do an amneo to confirm a problem with baby so potentially another week to 10 days so we look at her been 22ish weeks... I cant see a soap advertising such late termination to be honest so there will be a natural problem or a term pregnancy I think?? and also would itv endorse abortion in 2 of its shows so close together (charity ed)

"When did it start?" asked Carla. "On our wedding night" said her husband.

Absolutely. I didn't know that Roy is going to be involved but that is wonderful.
