Many of us on here think that Ben Mitchell and Johnny Carter will get together later this year when Ben returns to the Square, now that we know that Shirley is Johnny's Grandmother it could get very interesting.

Sharon is sure to play a Maternal role in Ben's life as she is with Phil and the fact that Ben is her best friend Ian's half brother.

Sharon hates Shirley but has a good relationship with Johnny.

I think Sharon's attack will bring her and Phil closer together. What is Sharon and Ben's relationship like, out of interest? Have they ever shared any screen time? I get the impression that Sharon wouldn't really like Ben, and I don't think Ben would like her. So there could be some conflict there, especially as Sharon is very fond of Johnny.

Also, if Shirley and Phil were ever to get back together and then get married, what type of relatives would that make Ben and Johnny? Could all get a bit confusing!

I think Sharon may try with Ben but I agree it become frosty as Sharon is very fond of Johnny.

They did briefly when she returned it wasn't major though.

I think Johnny and Ben will get together and Shirley will be angry. She will do her best to split them up and will tell Johnny that Ben is a murderer. I think Shirley and Phil will grow closer and Ben will come along and put a spanner in the works. In my opinion!

Ben was quite fond of Shirley before she took him for a swim. I presume he'll want forgiveness. I don't think he'll like Sharon.

I can't see Sharon wanting her precious Denny to be around someone convicted of manslaughter, especially after her little speech to Shirley last night about protecting him.

I wonder if when Johnny and Ben meet Shirley will still be auntie to Johnny. Could be the trigger for the truth to come out the carters.

Yeah, I'd agree with that. I can see Phil forcing Sharon to employ Ben at The Albert (more potential for scenes with Johnny that way) and Sharon really resenting it.

I actually think Ben might even try to break up Phil and Sharon to get Phil and Shirley back together. Even though Shirley hates Ben, Ben might see it as the solution to getting her to forgive him.

Shirley loved Ben when he was played by Charlie Jones. When they recasted him Shirley and Ben lost that special bond. I hope when the new Ben comes back Shirley will forgive him and even become friends with him again.

And a known gay homosexual.

I guess Ben and Sausage could be a possibility. Perhaps Johnny could meet him online or something, and both could not know their connection to each other.

Obviously it'd probability come as a JOHNNYS SECRET LOVER story. and then it'll be revealed to be Ben, with a new face.

Most definitely, just posted this on another thread - Mick's outbursts at Ben confirmed it for me, he's proud of Johnny for coming out but as a twist of fate has to trust him entering a relationship with a murderer. Also, Linda's friendship with Sharon - if Phil and Shirley get together (which I think they will), Linda will also hate Ben. Ben and Johnny will be Romeo and Juliet esque

I think Linda will hate Ben anyway. She doesn't want to accept Johnny as gay so she won't like any potential suitors who may steal him away from her

The comment could be seen as offensive...but I take it you didn't mean it to be! They'll be Romeo and Juliet esque in the way that they'll be lovers going against their family wishes to be together. But who knows? I still think Danny Pennant will return later this year......

They're both straight actors... Will the genuine chemistry be there? I mean, sure, they'll be able to play it to some extent; but will they really be capable of making it believable? I'm not so sure. I feel as though two straight guys pretending to love one another could come across overly forced.
