Samantha Womack is the better actress, no contest! But Rita Simons is very underrated as the producers never seem to utilise her properly.

I've seen Womack in many roles, all of which she was good at. I've only seen Simons in the role of Roxy, which she isn't very good at. There's a clear winner IMO.

Samantha Womack by miles. She is a fantastic actress. Rita Simons just bores me and comes over like her heart isn't in her work as Roxy.

Samantha Womack is one of the best actors on the show, but they are both brilliant given the chance.

Sam by a long way. Rita has improved but I do agree that she looks bored these days. I did expect DTC to use her more but doesn't seem that bothered by her character. Even if Ronnie isn't in the show at the moment it shouldn't mean they can't use Roxy.

Sam has had plenty more roles than Rita but with Ronnie it doesn't matter what she does she will always have a lot of fans and this is down to Sam's ability in the role.

Guess I'm the only one who actually doesn't think Sam Womack is a good actress at all then. Despite the excellent story lines she's been given (compared to those of Rita - who I don't rate as much of an actress either btw!) I found her to be wooden and dull.

I don't think it is a silly question at all, Rita Simons is a really good actress, she just never gets her own stuff. She was even in the background during her wedding with Alfie.

Meanwhile Sam has got to show us her acting in numerous stories.

But surely that's the point of the character? Ronnie is cold and emotionally stunted.

Does cold and emotionally stunted necessarily translate as wooden and dull?

Nah, she is quite bad, but people on DS are obsessive over her for some reason.

I do like Sam as the ice queen. Rita hasn't really had much to showcase her skills when I've been watching but I don't think she's bad at all.

Rita simmons is not a good actress to be honest.
Her performance when Amy was kidnapped was hilarious. Her performances during the storyline when Amy was taken off her were painful. She makes Daniella Westbrook seem like an oscar winning actress.

I have voted for Veronica but this does not mean that Roxanne is a bad person.

Well when someone is an ice queen who doesn't let their emotions show it tends to make them come off as robotic.

I mean I'm not saying she's as great as made out by some people on this forum, but she is good. You only have to watch her in another role to see the "wooden" and robotic nature of Ronnie is the character.

She's not a character who wears her heart on her sleeve.

I don't agree. Being cold and cool doesn't equal robotic (your word). Being cold and unemotional can result in someone being careless (with others), angry, superior, calculating and a whole host of other portrayals, not just wooden and dull (my words). I've never rated her in anything else either, I simply don't rate her as an actress, attractive though she may be. She's only good at being silent for much longer than is required though, I'll give her that.

I've voted for Rita Simons for one simple reason.

Womack is very, very good at the powerful scenes, but when I watch her, I do think 'wow, Samantha Womack is doing some very good acting'

When ever I watch Roxy, I think 'Wow, Roxy's truly peed off about something'

I believe that Roxy is Roxy. Ronnie is a character played by Samantha Womack, and that's always the trouble I've had with her.

I can't say I've ever seen Roxy do much on screen other than pass her kid off and whinge at her sister for chasing her fella of the week away so I voted for Sam Womack as I've been impressed by her portrayal of Ronnie and with how the character copes with what the storylines have thrown at her.

Not necessarily, but she must be playing the part according to the director's instructions.
Having seen her in comedy roles, we know her repertoire is fairly wide.
