With the shows 30th birthday coming up, and DTC well known for his shocks, it looks like there will be a big twist ahead in Shirley and Mick's story arc.

The big question is, who has DTC marked as the father of Mick? the suspects are below...

Arthur Fowler Well known for cavorting with Christine Hewett during his marriage with Pauline, and getting nagged continuously and driven to insanity by Lou Bealle. and aunt Nelly, It wouldn't be hard to believe, when Michelle and Mark were young, Arthur lost his patience, and had a fling. He quickly felt guilty and returned to his family. Arthur's child would be a strong link to the past, and with Sonia and half brother Mick on the square, it would be easy to lure Martin back for the 30th (or even...Michelle)

Frank Butcher Frank is again, a strong link to the past, and Janine needs a reason to return. If Ricky returns for Christmas or the 30th, Bianca might leave with him, reuniting the squares answer to Scott and Charlene. With Frank's continuous affairs, and failed business ventures, a quickie with Shirley in her younger days would have provided him with some stress relief.

Reg Cox What better way to celebrate the 30th than introduce the son of original character Reg?

Dirty Den Watts Giving Sharon a half brother could be very interesting. With Sharon's rivalry with Linda, and her links with the Vic. But it might also throw up feelings she had with Dennis, and give Michelle, Mark jnr and Vicky a reason to visit.

Charlie Slater Kat needs some new material. Like Sharon, she has links to the vic

Derek Branning Will Max, Carol etc welcome Mick with open arms?

Alfie Moon same age as Shirley. Like father....like son!

Jim Branning Another interesting Branning twist

Patrick Trueman Badly needs new storylines and Antony would want to visit.

Lofty, Eddie Royle, Guppy, Felix Kawalski, DR Legg, Mr Papadopoulos, links to the past

Pete Bealle Just what Ian needs!

Reg Cox has to be the father. Shirley went to confront him about it in February 1985 and killed him after Nick Cotton left. When Den broke down the door and said "Stinks in 'ere" he wasn't referring to the rotting corpse of Reg Cox. He was referring to the stench of Shirley's muff.

This is going to be a long shot but I get a feeling that the father was gay Colin from the 80's before he turned really gay by going out with Barry and realising he was well and truly gay!

I going to go for Dirty Den.
Shirley will discover his identity when she sees a picture of him in Phil and Sharon's house and asks who he is.

If Dirty Den is the father, that would be a gamechanger.

I'd personally welcome it. Offers the opportunity to bring Sharon to the forefront of the show.

He'd snatch Shirley's vodka bottle back and down it in one.

If a black person and a white person mate, the off-spring has a 50% chance of being black, and a 50% chance of being white if its not mixed race. Since Shirley is white, Mick could have got his colour from her.

Theres very very slim chances of that happening, not something that happens everyday.
