In your opinion, who is the better rapper? Kanye West or Eminem?

Kanye by a mile, I can see why people may say Eminem in terms of him as a conventional rapper as he is a smart lyricist and his flow is probably better/ more consistent than Kanye, but in my opinion Eminem's music hasn't evolved he goes between witty and sarcastic to dull and depressing and thats about it, after awhile everything kind of sounds the same. Where as Kanye's strength lies in his artistry as every album he has put out has sounded completely different, whether people liked it or not and he raps about a wider range of subjects, which altogether makes him a better rapper in my eyes, I do quite like Eminem, I just think Kanye is far superior.

Why 'obviously'? Surely it's all opinion and you will find plenty of people whose opinion is that Kanye is better.
Eminem is definitely the better rapper, but I agree with that comment about him failing to evolve. Brilliant first albums and then after that he's stuck on repeat and sounds like his true angst these days is he's bored of himself.
Eminem is a better rapper technically but hasn't released a half decent album since the Eminem Show. As said above, he hasn't evolved as an artist and is still pumping out same material like it's still 2000.
Kanye may not be the better rapper on a technical level but he is the superior artist who's music seems to be evolving and changing with each release. I personally think Kanye has not released a single bad album (yes, that includes 808's), I can't say the same for Eminem who seems to be stuck in a mid-life crisis rut.

If they was to both take it to the stage and have a battle in front of a crowd, theres no doubt that kanye would get shredded.

The OP asked who is the better rapper, so from that I thought we were talking about rapping ability/skill not who we prefer as an artist which is of course subjective.
Kanye doesn't have as a distinctive tone as Eminem, his wordplay, vocal rhythms and delivery are not as complex, he's not as quick witted, his verse is usually the weakest when he collaborates with other rappers, he loves auto tune and his free-style sucks.
It seems obvious to me who would win if they hypothetically did happen to meet on stage and have a rap battle one on one with no beat to see who was better, which is what rappers do to settle such disputes.
Im not dissing Kanye, I like him and his controversy he has made some good songs/album but he's never going to make the top 20 on an all time great emcees list unless he gets shot.
In terms of rapping as a poetic/lyrical skill, Eminem. But I much prefer Kanye's music, both for the sound of it and what he writes/talks about. The samples, the singers' parts, the overall sound, the beats, and then the lyrical content I much prefer what Kanye talks about.
For me Eminem is much more hit and miss and controversial. Eminem I sometimes get the feeling goes out of his way to piss people off with what he says in his songs. Also I didnt think Love the Way You Lie was that great, it was carried by Rihanna, and The Monster was a bit of a pale imitation of that. For me, Kanye's material has been more consistent and there's been tracks of his I've liked on every album. My standouts are probably All Falls Down and Heard Em Say. (not that that's relevant!)
I also like how Kanye's experimented with different sounds and styles and influences. On the other hand Em his has own style going on that works and is popular so I'm not knocking him either.

I would say Eminem. However neither of them have brought it for me in the past couple of years musically. I much prefer their older stuff. Can't really stand any of their new stuff and that goes to them both.
The main thing for me is that Kayne has nowhere amount of impact when he first came out the way Eminem did. Late 90's up to around 2004 pretty much belonged to Eminem and D12. Kanye however was a bit of a slow burner and kind of just 'there'.
I think Eminem is technically the best rapper around. The wit and intelligence in some of his lyrics are outstanding. His flow and delivery are excellent. However, I think he has been letdown by some poor song choices and hasn't really allowed his style to evolve over the years.
Kanye is an excellent producer and is always pushing the boundaries to experiment with new sounds as an artist. He has also made some very clever choices regarding his songs and his collaborators. I have seen him live in concert twice (one solo tour and then with Jay Z during the 'Watch The Throne' tour) and he is a bona fide superstar.
