I think the truth about this current situation is this. Letitia has bombed during this stint. Her acting has been awful. Lets not pretend otherwise. At times it has been embarrassing to watch. She actually looks uncomfortable. DTC realised the only person Sharon worked with was Phil and put her with him in an attempt to make something of her return. However Letitia is still acting like she is on some theatre stage and is dragging everyone around her down. I think its kinda insulting Letitia's big storyline of her year will see Sharon in a coma! lol but it speaks volumes about where the character now is. I think all of Sharon's faults this era come down to Letitia's flaws as an actress. Not the writing and not DTC, Newman or Kirkwood.

Brilliant! Best summing up of Phil/Shirley/Sharon I've seen in ages!
Phil and Sharon were once a great love story but not anymore, there's no chemistry between them anymore and doesn't seem to be any real love of affection. I would no longer be surprised if Phil did dump Sharon in favour of reuniting with Shirley, Sharon is no longer the woman Phil fell in love with all those years ago. Sharon used to be strong, independent, intelligent woman however since returning in 2012 the writers have seen to it that Sharon is portrayed as a sad, desperate, needy, gold-digger. The old Sharon would never have latched onto a man in order to fund her latest business venture. Not only that but she's also became very bitchy, unpleasant and socially inept. If i was a new viewer who hadn't seen Sharon prior to 2012 i would have a very low opinion of her character.
I say let Phil and Shirley get back together the chemistry is there and they're very well suited, get Sharon away from Phil and start to rebuild her character back to the one we came to know and love last seen departing in a taxi in January 2006.

I disagree on LD's acting. She's had some ropy scenes but was great on reveal day, fine with the Johnny and Dot scenes etc. She's had some awful lines to deliver - a mid 40s woman calling a 50 year old man Babe. Really?

Yet other actors on the show have said that they are given the freedom to develop their characters and alter scripts if they are not happy with them. Even Maddy said that she has input into her character, and she is a newbee. Then there is the story of Barbara Windsor tearing up the script for her return episode. I find it hard to believe that someone like Letitia, who should know Sharon inside out, is the only actor who keeps quiet if she's not happy with her scripts.

Fair point Val. She should have torn that one up. There was a DS interview where she said she wanted
a stronger Sharon so I hope she changes things. I gave up on Kat after the shagger story and there's only a handful of other characters in EE that interest me so I hope all involved turn it around.

I don't know. The bloke she arrived with is potentially interesting. He could have taken the Carl baddy role and I remember the actor having presence. I do like the idea of a new Vikki as well. Without any connections nothing will improve. I guess it also depends on LDs plans.
