gentleguy

i know in real life the age gap is 14 between linda henry and danny dyer so i suppose its possible and thats the same age gap between kat and zoe as well but considering danny dyers character is apprently 40 how old is shirley then? i mean danny dyers kids are in their 20s so i still dont get it and i wonder who the father is is it her father? havent we had enough of incest storylines now?

From what I read elsewhere on this forum, she supposedly had MIck at 14 and Mick had Lee also at 14.

I think that's about right ?!

Tina was 40 a few weeks ago and as she was old enough to vaguely remember the bath incident, I think it's safe to assume that Mick is at least 2 or 3 years younger than her.

I think they messed up making Lee in his early 20's.

14 years. Shirley was born in 1963 and Mick was born in 1977. Mick had Lee in 1991 so he was 14 also. Shirley became a grandmother for the first time at the age of 28. If Lee were to get Whitney pregnant (to link her with the Carters since her family is leaving), she would be a great-grandmother at 51.

Yeah its screwed up but it lines up with the Carter tradition of having kids young. Tina had Zsa Zsa at 19. I wouldn't be surprised if Stan and Sylvie had Shirley at 16 or aunt Babe had a child at 18.

Stan is 80 (Mick confirmed this the other day), so he was 29 when Shirley was born.

Well then I guess Stan and Sylvie avoided that tradition but since Stan had Tina at 40, I wonder if the stress of a late-in-life pregnancy and having to raise their grandson made Sylvie leave.

I read on here that Shirley's 54. Mick is 36/37 if born in 1977. Shirley must have got pregnant at 16/17.

Shirley is 51 and Mick is 37. Well, from what I've heard.

Kevin Wicks celebrated his 47th birthday onscreen in 2006 meaning he was born in 1959. Shirley and Heather mentioned they were both 44 in 2007 meaning they were born in 1963. Mick's date of birth has been shown onscreen as 1977 (making him the the same age as actor Danny Dyer) and Lee's has been shown to be 1991 which means Mick did in fact have Lee at 14 years old. As it stands there is also 14 years between Shirley and Mick therefore making Shirley a grandmother at a shocking 28. My guess is they may age Shirley up a few years possibly to 55 which would make her the same age as Kevin if he were still alive. That way she would have been 18 when she had Mick and not 14 and 32 when she became a grandma not 28 which would be a bit more believable.

They have said on screen that Shirley was 'still a kid herself' when Mick was born, I know the shirt said '77 but, it doesn't mean for sure that, that is his age, from the age marks on the walls (at Stan's flat) I thought he was supposed to be only a few years younger than Tina who is 40..

I quite like the fact that there's currently an interesting symmetry between Mick/Linda and Shirley, if they both got pregnant at 14 but Shirley couldn't cope with having a baby and Mick and Linda evidently did. It will make Shirley's guilt over giving Mick up even stronger.

And yes, it's shocking that she was a grandmother at 28 but it's not unheard of.

It was implied that Shirley was quite young when she had Mick. If she was 18 then she wouldn't have had to have still been living at home when he was born.

I'd prefer Mick and Linda to have been of age, otherwise, with Cindy currently, it would be too many young parents. It would be nice if they had done it properly.

This storyline is obviously going to polarize fans initally, but there is no denying that so much drama that can be stemmed from this revelation, as it not only effects Shirley and Mick, it effects the entire Carter clan.

I just hope they don't drag out the reveal until Christmas as per usual. The aftermath will no doubt be a lot more entertaining, and it gives the family a lot of scoop for interesting storylines.

I don't really see the issue. Mick and Linda clearly did a good job of bringing their three children up so the fact that they were probably very young parents seems inconsequential to me.

Oh I like the Shirley/Mick twist, I've defended it quite a bit on here, I meant people were speculating about the age that Mick and Linda had Lee and I was just commenting that it would be nice if they had, had him around 16. It doesn't really matter, was just saying.

Of course they will, They always take just too long to get there. Then maybe Lucy somehow found out and Shirley killed her to keep her quiet.....Wouldn't put it past them

Ridiculous comment. She doesn't look 60, no way. She looks about 50.

Tina is 40 so born in 1974 and Mick is younger than her so has to have been born in either 75, 76 or 77. Why would he have a football shirt and email address with 77 on them if he was born in 76 or 75? it doesnt make sense. It's obvious the character was born in 1977 - the same as Danny Dyer who plays him.

I was only saying as I know people who have football shirts like that but they don't have them for the year they were born. (i'm really not kidding) that's why I wondered. Obviously its different for everyone.
