I have to say if Michael french wanted to quit then this for me is the better storyline. It brings the whole lifetime story of Carol and David to a close. He finally wanted to commit and it wasnt to be.

Despite her doubts it's some validaiton to Carol that he did love her and I don't think David would have left her whilst ill.

A good storyline and also makes it easier for Bianca to move on.

She will say sitting in that car, waiting for him, she realised she will always be waiting for him. She will always be waiting for him to catch up, to get there, to be on her level but she now sees he never will be.

Carol is a martyr and the thing writes itself. Better than having to have yet another funeral and better than David breaking up with her. Carol will convince him he needs to go and Bianca will do the same.”

Yes this is the way I see it going, I dont think they would kill off David, especially so soon after Lucy and there,s rumours of a suicide shortly.

This cuddly David who loves Carol is a complete re-write of history.”

He was young back then and people can change as they grow older. One thing I thought was idiotic was when he got back after Derek's death, he didn't open his mouth and say Derek threatened him and sent him away. He would never have left Carol at that point if Derek, Max and Jack hadn't chased him away the way they did.

What about a faked death?

How can they kill David? Seriously? In the past few months we've seen him get closer to Ian than he has been in decades. It would be farcical if Ian's brother died a month after his daughter. That would be Lou, Donna, Pete, Arthur, Cindy, Mark, Laura, Kathy, Pauline, Pat, Lucy and David,, all dead. But Ian isn't grieving next week when Sharon and Phil come over making accusations. Does he really care so little for David that he wouldn't even be slightly upset? Would TPTB really kill of Ian's brother the week after his daughter's funeral?

Unless Ian was involved in Lucy's death, or he's heading for a life-changing (and I mean life-changing) breakdown, I just can't see them doing that to Ian. David may be well liked on here, but TPTB are more concerned at (futilely) making Ian seem sympathetic. So then again, they may well give Ian another reason to cry.

The more I think about it the more I think it will be carol that dumps him as I just can't see them doing another funeral plus then janine would be expected to return for it, why can't he just stay grr

But if he's not dead I can't see why they dont get married..... unless that fool Carol starts some nonsense as usual which ends up making David leave the square a-gain! 😴

I would prefer this to him dieing.

The thing thats worrying me is why is he not listed in any credits for next week surely they would be going to visit him unless they just mention him but still

I'd prefer it if he was killed off and leaves Carol behind. I don't think it's too much too soon after Lucy's funeral. These things happen.

They have to kill him off. Carol was in danger of being happy and we can't have that on EE can we?

I don't want him to die but if not I am really intrigued to how he will leave! I'm sad he is leaving as I think MF is fantastic!

Carol's realised David's her addiction. Tomorrow night's episode it'll be her chance to leave him rather than being stood up.

David should be freed from Carol and when he comes back next time he should be the lothario we all know and live. Let him be himself, free of Carol and free of guilt.
