No, they didn't get too many, they got the ones they deserved.

The panel awards weren't very well spread out this year. 4 of their 6 awards came from the panel and it should have been better spread out. Maybe the panel needs an overhaul next year as its kinda been biased towards ITV/Corrie in recent years. Storyline/single ep should have been given to different soap/stories. I've no problem with the public voted awards, even if as a hollyoaks fan I feel they didn't deserve the win, but the panel ones was a bit skewed this year tbh.

Agreed with Roy winning but Hayley's overacting was embarrassing.

So merit shouldn't come into it then?

So did I. I don't think Hayley (Julie) is a bad actress but Roy (David)is much better. I do think Julie got too many.

David's two acceptance speeches were the highlight of the night for me I love the way he said "sorry" when he went up for about the 4th time

They've been in it for 16 years. This is the first time Julie or David have really been given any recognition for their talent. And its the last chance Julie will get any awards for her role as hayley.

It was long overdue and Immensly deserved IMO

So how, after 16 years, did they both suddenly improve their acting simultaneously ?

Of course but there was, on merit, equally good stories. Believe me I liked the Roy/Hayley story but others, such as Jonny coming out to Mick, Sienna stealing Nancy's life, deserved rewarding. Roy/Hayley should have got the acting but maybe spread the others out more. Partnership was thoroughly deserved and its the last time they can get it so fine but for 2 straight years ITV and Corrie have dominated the panel voted awards. At least the public spread them out a bit.

Doesn't it defeat the purpose in an award if they are given to people who weren't the best because they need to be spread out. The point in an award is to give it to the best. If the same storyline/actor is the best in numerous categories they deserve to win numerous awards. It would be pretty pointless for the panel to sit and say 'Corrie have best episode so we'll need to give eastenders dramatic performance and doctors best scene...' and so on.

After his acceptance speech, David definitely deserves sexiest male. Now that is a real man!

When Hayley started banging on about Accrington and whatnot, I was actually glad she was dead.

Does that make me a bad egg?

Hollyoaks fans cheated, they were boasting on twitter about opening dozens of email addys in order to multi vote. It's not a real win if cheating won it for them! To be fair, Emmerdale should have got best soap for last year. The Cameron storyline was so brilliant. Hollyoaks don't even get a million viewers they are permanently beaten in the viewing figures by Doctors. It's about time Doctors got a few awards anyway.

Hollyoaks and Doctors rate about the same. Hollyoaks doesn't always get a million viewers for the 6:30 showing but it always does in the officals and it's only recently it has actually got over a million for a few 6:30 episodes.

Corrie definitely got lucky with this storyline, they wouldn't have won much else without it.

I can't say whether they deserved them or not as I don't watch Corrie but it got a little boring seeing them going up again and again.
