Really dont where all the bad press comes from and everybody seemed to think she not well liked and won't be missed when she leaves this week.
Found her quite shy & nervous, not just this year but last too, know somebody who used to live in same st as her, and he said she was quiet and kept out of spotlight.
Or is this just a myth ?

I don't have a problem with the actress. It's Tina I hate, I actually really liked her character until the Peter/Tina storyline. That ruined Tina for me.

But that's nothing to do with her

I don't really like what's been done with the character of Tina, but that's the writers at fault not Michelle Keegan. I do feel sometimes the PDAs with Mark Wright are a bit much but that's everyone's personal choice.

No idea where the hate comes from. I think Michelle seems like a lovely person. I'm glad she picked up the sexiest female award, again. Six years running is very impressive

I will miss Tina and think it's a shame she is being killed off

What bad press? The press seem to love her and practically print when she takes a breath these days

It's some of the sods on DS who like to hate Tina I think.
Michelle seems to be a lovely, down to earth, modest, unassuming but really sweet, funny and natural girl.
Lovely person, and she's going to leave a giant gaping hole in Corrie, that's for sure.

Why is she leaving & what does she plan to do next, I mean soap stars who leave aren't exactly showered with acting jobs are they
In fact I struggle to think of soap star who did
Better After leaving either corrie or EE?
I mean what's happened to Jill halfpenny or Martine mcClutchen since they left, and as for the one who tried & miserably failed to revive bionic woman least said about that the better

To the contrary I think Michelle Keegan is one of the most popular people in soap, certainly I think that has contributed a lot to the success of Tina. Don't think the bikini bod hurts either! Good luck to her.

I found her speech quite amusing. She was thanking loads of people !!! What, for her looking sexy ? She seemed to be a bit confused with sexiest female and best actress awards.

How?

As a person she does seem a nice lass. I don't really see anything that stands out as overly bad about her.

I like Michelle Keegan and the character of Tina. I'll miss her in Corrie and think it's a shame Tina can't return.

She clearly used the opportunity to thank everyone who has supported her during her years on Corrie, I think it was a nice, gracious thing to do. It is a popularity vote more than anything, her little speech was quite sweet.

Michelle seems to be really sweet, unassuming, and appreciative. She is gorgeous, but unthreatening, and is quite popular both among the press and public.

Depends what they choose to do. McCutcheon insisted that she wanted to be a singer ,which she wasn't particularly good at.

Sarah Lancashire and Suranne Jones have been very successful as TV actresses.

What's wrong with hating Tina? Corrie ruined her character a long time before this Peter malarky. So it's definitely time for her to go. Although IMO they should never have killed her off.

That's Tina. ^^^ Michelle Keegan is a different issue. Now, MK does seem to be a lovely person as you say. I just hope that fiance of hers and his lot don't try and make into a stererotypical, Stepford Essex girl. I thought MK knew better than to turn herself into an Essex girl but she's already started getting procedures. I hope she stops. She already has good looks without conforming to a stereo-type and a stereo-type which has negative connotations. Surely her charm is that she has good looks with conforming to a certain look?

I have no problem with Michelle Keegan - she seems like a genuine, nice, fairly down to earth girl. It slightly rankles that she gets to have her partner sit with her at the Soap Awards when nobody else does (unless they are getting the lifetime achievement award) and he isn't involved with the show which seems like favourtism but that is the organisers decision not hers.

It is the character of Tina I have come to detest, partly because of the storylines she has been given over the last 18 months or so, partly because I think we are supposed to like and sympathize with her when I think she is being a pain in the arse most of them time, partly because of her attitudes (constant eye rolling which is an acting choice) but mainly because of over exposure. For that reason I won't be sorry to see her go and don't think I'll miss her but that is no reflection on Keegan.

The hate is aimed at the character who has been both overexposed and ruined by the writers because of the awful affair storyline! No one seems to have any major issues with Michelle Keegan herself, bar a few keyboard warriors who like to just be abusive for fun.

As others have posted Sarah Lancashire and Suranne Jones have done well for themselves, as has Katherine Kelly, Joanne Froggatt and Angela Griffin. Sacha Parkinson (Sian) is also doing well.

She's just always going to be known as "That bird who always wins the sexiest actress at the soap awards"..No mention of her acting abilities at all.

Not much to be proud of in my opinion.

Its a shame she was tricked into the personality transplant as Tina. The girl wanted to try something new. Was told the door would be left open for and then SB suddenly decides to kill her off. Not very nice.

ITV seem to encourage the use of their most popular ex-soap actresses in the drama productions they commission. Something about a familiar face I suppose but I do find I hard to dis-associate the actress from their previous character.

Sarah Lancashire and Suranne Jones have been very successful as TV actresses.
Katherine Kelly (Corrie's Becky) is a classically trained actor and went straight back to the stage before appearing in Mr. Selfridge and Rob James Collier found success and a wide audience in Downton Abbey and Thelma Barlow (Corrie's Mavis) can be seen in comedy, costume drama and often pops up in Miss Marple etc. Anna Friel was very successful after leaving Brookside as was Sue Johnstone and John McCardle regularly turns up in various dramas. Ricky Tomlinson, though not on my list of favourite performers, regularly appears on our screens.

If they're good enough they'll find work - if not they'll disappear without trace, return to the soap or cross over to another.
