The difference is Corrie won multiple awards for the same storyline. If it was spread out more between the soaps, it would've been less boring to watch the awards.

They won all those awards because it was a good storyline, it seems silly to say that they'd have been screwed without it because it was still a good storyline that did air, and people liked, so they voted for it.

Corrie won so many awards for one storyline because of how well written and acted it was. I'm so glad David Neilson did so well tonight, I don't feel he is always appreciated as much as he deserves. I think Coronation Streets awards were deserved.

They wouldn't have swept the awards like they did without it.

but they did, because they did have the storyline, I don't get the point you're trying to make?

The point I'm trying to make is Corrie would indeed have been screwed without the Roy/hayley storyline as I could see it winning less awards. I'm agreeing with the posters from other threads you're mocking by making this thread.

I'm mocking the other thread because, yes, Corrie might not have gotten as many awards without this storyline, but they still had the storyline, the writers put all their effort into the storyline, David and Julie put all their efforts into their scenes, the directors put all their efforts into how the scenes all looked. So, Corrie deserve all those awards for this one storyline, because they put effort into it, it seems pointless to say they'd be screwed without it, because even if they hadn't done this storyline it could have easily been another one.

It was indeed the only thing they had to offer that made anykind of impact. That was great but it's been cancelled out by just how desperate everything else has been since then. The viewers have spoken volumes about what they think of Kate Oates's ED.

As a fan of Emmerdale too (though I havent watched it in a while), I have to agree, though I am glad they won the award for the seige, and I think Dominic Power deserved best villain.

As a fan of both Emmerdale and Hollyoaks I think Dominic should have won best villain and they deserved the award they won as I was watching those scenes holding my breath, they were scary.

Emmerdale deserved best episode as well as spectacular scene imo. I've never seen a more dramatic and tense set of episodes as siege week in any soap. It was truly terrifying and brilliant. Like something out of a horror film at times, especially when Cameron appeared behind Debbie in the water, and the bit at the end of one of the episodes when Debbie was protecting Chas and screaming at Cameron to shoot her. Spine tingling stuff. Deserved so much more recognition. I felt sorry for the Emmerdale cast who looked rather deflated.

I'm glad it at least got a little bit of recognition at the soap awards, other awards haven't even seemed to acknowledge it, despite it being the best stunt I've seen a soap do in a long time.
