I hope not. He can swan in and out as much as Michael French wishes as far as I am concerned. He's brilliant.

Why half 7, thus clashing with BGT = lower ratings no doubt
Even starting at its normal time wouldn't clash with CS as that is starting at 9pm...
7:30 because it starts head to head with BGT (of course BGT will get millions more viewers and the BBC have failed to promote this weeks EastEnders) it's better starting head to head then having EastEnders start 30mins after BGT. Both skew young so they could dent each other as seen before with BGT ratings rising once EastEnders has finished.

Friday there is an England Match kicking off at 8 on ITV which is why again EastEnders airs 7:30 . No 7:30 Corrie so the BBC have used the slot.

I can't see them killing off David... I could be wrong but I just can't - a character with so much history and so soon after Lucy? Could there be some other surprise about the way he leaves?

I have to say how stupid the BBC was not to promote this week, given the onslaught from itv. It's not as if nothing is happening this week drama-wise in the Square.

Perhaps they are seeing what will happen tonight.

I agree. EastEnders tonight was good and there bits of drama across the week. Years past EastEnders went on Holiday this week and just gave us 'Filler' trips to the woods.

And if you wanted to watch both easties and BGT, it makes more sense to watch Easties first and then catch up with BGT afterwards on iplayer without all the adverts. That way you can watch a 60 min show in about 40 mins.

IF David ends up in the state I think he will on Thursday or Friday ....would be soooo funny IF EE used the Holby City set for the hospital scenes.... very fitting!!

It's the GBP they don't have the brain for that.
If it was me i'd watch EastEnders then put BGT on at 8. You can then fast forward the adverts and be able to catch up which is how I've viewed LIVE shows with Ads before.

EastEnders not trending tonight but Pirates of the Caribbean is which of course is in EastEnders normal slot.

Good Point. I don't have Iplayer so I watched Eastenders and then BGT after. As BGT is getting a bit stale now, I don't care about missing the first bit. Maybe others will think the same

That's ominous... having said that, I don't think the correlation between Twitter trends and overnight viewing figures is necessarily that close.

I still imagine EastEnders will only have got high 4m to scraping 5m at best. Cue "EastEnders in crisis; Corrie and Emmerdale crush EastEnders" newspaper stories.

They will be there....last year the Episode after BGT jumped up 2 million and the press failed to mention that.

If DTC kills off David he's as bad as Birkwood for killing off Pat.
Not really, its good to take a few risks!

We haven't seen him for the last 16 years before he returned, I'm sure we'l live!

I also love the way the red tops have generally ignored the way in which EastEnders has pretty much caught up with Coronation Street in the overnight viewing figures.

I stopped watching it years ago, it's too samey and false these days.

Yep...EastEnders has seen a rise but Corrie a decline. The Papers fail to mention it but this week that will be different when the gap is 3/4m between the two.
