Anyone done this and not regretted it?

I LOVE my Nexus 4 so I was wanting to get something more powerful with a bigger screen so was tempted by the Nexus 5. But it would cost me a further £80 after selling my Nexus 4 and something else.

Is it worth the money?

Thanks

I have been considering this. I'm not too bothered about a bigger screen but I'm getting frustrated with the battery life on my N4.

Not sure the N5 is any better in terms of battery though is it?

I've done this upgrade. Depends on the person, but I find the n5 a decent upgrade. Screen is bigger and better, it's a bit snappier, and the camera is better. More of the same basically, which isn't exactly a bad thing! Seems like it'll be less fragile too.

After trying to video a few music events i'm not upgrading to the N5, i hear the mic gain has the same problem where all the sound is distorted.

Hopefully it'll be fixed in the N6.

That's if there is a Nexus 6. There have been reports that the Nexus product line will be dropped for another brand name.

What mic problems? I've never had this problem with the N4?

audio on video playback on my N4 is unusable and distorted. Battery life getting worse and worse. Camera dreadful. Phone keeps turning on or Google Now activated by just putting the phone in a pocket or bag (any contact turns it on) which doesn't help the battery life.
Volume slider sometimes doesn't work or deactivates.

I considered the N5 but compromised on the camera because of the price of the N4 and regret it as the camera sucks. I'm now looking at either the Samsung G5 or the Sony Z2.
Always a bit of a hassle to get photos syncing nicely with a mac though. I refuse to have an iPhone as I am addicted to swype!

Eh? I've never had Google now activate itself by putting the phone in a pocket. Nor was my mic distorted. I took some great videos with good sound with my N4.

I have the N5 and my camera is fine...

There was an issue with the focus, but that was fixed with a software update.

sounds like you just have a duff N4.
i had an N4 (and now an N5) and never had any of those issues.

camera on the N4 also wasn't "dreadful".

I gave my missus my N4 and moved to a Nexus 5, speed wise you wont notice much difference in every day use to be honest and the 720p to 1080p jump isn't even that noticeable.

Better battery life and better camera are welcome though as is the slight future proofing of 4G (i say slight cos there isn't owt wrong with 3G if you're hitting 20Mbit you ask me)

I think it is worth the upgrade but for the very same reason GeordiePaul said, its more of the same thing.

Yes, it is.

The phone is noticeably faster overall as well.

I think you will find i did say in everyday use, its pretty obvious a newer SOC with a processor running nearly 800MHz faster along with a newer more powerful GPU is going to be faster and smoother for games etc.

Plenty of N4 sound issues here

Unless we all have dodgy phones?

Do you really not get any distortion when recording/videoing live bands?

Can't say I record live bands, but with them been very loud isn't distortion inevitable? When I record 'normal' stuff I don't get any distortion on by N4.

Well live bands are fine when recording with my digital camera, they were also fine with my HTC Desire.

There just doesn't seem to be any 'damping' on the mic

Apart from this problem the phone is great, i don't even think the camera is that bad.

playing games will be "everyday use" for some though.
it's noticeably faster for other "everyday use" stuff also.

Well using both with nova launcher they seem pretty dam as smooth as each other to me, stuff opens similar, texts send the same, calls are as good, menus open as quick and non 3D heavy games play similar and load similar.

If your everyday use is playing 3D heavy games on a phone then yet there is no contest.

some people go to a live music event to actually watch the show thru their eyes and listen to it thru their ears....... and not thru a mobile phone screen

go there and enjoy the event and keep your phone in your pocket.

I doubt it'll be very good.

Nokia have done some amazing things in that area.
