Clueless, sorry. My mate has a Samsung Galaxy Note and has 400 photos that need transferring onto a PC or mac. What's the easiest software to use please?

Is it more complicated with a mac than a PC and is it the same software that you'd use to transfer music and photos/videos if using a Samsung G5 or a Sony Z2? Both might be available on upgrade for him.
He's older and the Note is his first smartphone, so be kind. Cheers

If the photos are on the SD card, take it out and plug it in to your computer. Copy the photos off it.

Most have an SD card slot these days - you will need a micro-sd to regular SD card adapter, cheap. Can find on Amazon etc....

If the computer doesn't have an SD card slot, you can buy a very cheap USB micro SD card reader, they are about £2.25 on Amazon.

No differences between PC and Mac for this approach.

Or

Plug the note into the computer using the USB cable (this is the charger cable). It should show up as a device in My Computer/This PC). You can copy the photos off this way. Older Android devices ask how to connect via USB, if you get this, select "Mass Storage Device".

You may need to install the Samsung software on your computer in order to do this.

May be harder on Mac than on PC, if the Note won't connect as a USB mass storage device.

Or

Back them up to a cloud service like Dropbox (app in Google Play Store). Install dropbox on your computer and they will download through your internet connection.

Same on PC/Mac

Or

Transfer them via Bluetooth.

Same on PC/Mac
