EE: why doesn't Michael French want to commit to EE?
It seems to me as if Eastenders is nothing more then a stop gap for him before he goes back to playing nick Jordan?? The role of David wicks came many years beforehand though and I can't help but think perhaps Michael just doesn't like EE?
Do you think he is still hurt all these years later by the bad press he received over his sexuality? By the way I'm not bashing Michael here, I love David wicks and he has been just what the show needed.. I'm sad to see him go and although I doubt this will happen-if they kill him of then my faith in DTC is lost |

working on EE is long hours. Maybe hes happy with a years money and go back to an easier filming schedule on Holby/casualty?
personally, I would kill him off only because he isn't the type of actor to return again anytime soon (took him about 16 years last time!) He should make more Crime Traveller's lol! |

EastEnders is a much bigger show than Casualty is. I just don't think Michael is comfortable with the fame being on EastEnders brings. Sam Womack once said she didn't know what being famous was until she joined EE yet she was already a household name who had been working in TV for 20 years before joining so that shows you how big the show is.

I think Michael prefers having a lighter filming schedule and casualty is perfect for him. I hope Michael returns to Casualty but not sure if it's possible because...

Big characters often suffer from being over-worked. Personally I love Michael French as David and I hope they tried to accommodate his needs to get him to stay, I'm sure they did as he is an asset to the show.
June Brown's work schedule works well for her as she is more or less on her own (despite this Charlie story bubbling away) it allows her to be off screen a lot, but David lives with Carol, Bianca et al AND has the car lot with Max AND has a connection to Ian so is required to be around a lot and feature in lots of big storylines. Maybe it is just too much. |

He can't stand working with the terrible actress that is Patsy Palmer. Can't wait for her to bog off for good.

I love David and Michael French a lot but i respect his decision to go because I understand the schedule must be tough compared to Casualty. I'm still holding up hopes that he's just leaving for a break of maybe six months and can be talked around again though because Eastenders has been moving in a good direction and David has helped with that. I'd hate to see him leave forever and especially to see him die.

Despite deluded fans insisting Treadwell Collins has restored the show to its glory the fact is the scripts have been dreadful all this year. I don't blame Michael David is a mere shadow of what he was in the nineties. |

His munching budget has run a-muck. I'd have to take in a lodger if he lived here, just to pay for the bread.

That's your opinion, which is all good. But, however, you are in the minority. Most people, myself included, think DTC has done excellent work to turn the show around.

It was stated elsewhere a few years back that Michael French never likes to commit to one programme long-term.
And maybe he does return to Casualty in order to help both Zoe and Ash with respect to Connie. Anything would be possible. |

Probably doesn't want to get Typecast into David.

Though to be fair I don't think the attention nowadays is anywhere near as intense as it was in David's first stint when they got the kind of attention that Big Brother contestants got in the last decade and the TOWIE lot nowadays multiplied by about 100! Intense and never ending interest and speculation about some of the actors (usually the young, good looking ones). Danniella Westbrook suffered from similar media pressure too, they were like TV superstars and everyone seemed to want a piece of them. Perhaps the memory of all that (and the infamous The Sun headline 'outing' him) has tarnished his memory of the show forever? Either way, I'm still sad he's going

Why would he care about being typecast when he wants to spend his entire life playing a bland doctor
