There was the goto fail bug which made the news a few months ago, but apparently existed for long time, which was Apple's SSL/TLS vulnerability. Although it's since been patched, perhaps some passwords were compromised using that?

Well, I get the impression now that this became hot news mainly because of the current spate of stolen user data.

According to Apple there is no breach and each of the people involved had used other services which had been breached and used the same password for everything.
Once again, this just reinforces the need for unique passwords for all online accounts. Whilst you probably can't avoid the risk of being hacked at some point, you can limit the damage it can cause. |

Also shows it is best to not over-react to headlines when the actual issue is not understood. I assume some will be advising to switch find my phone back on again.

It only made big news because of timing of all the stolen data from the likes of ebay and Spotify.
However there are good lessons for everyone here especially as it is said half the US have had their personal details nicked here and there last year. |

Apple should just force 2 step login on their customers for their own good.

Turns out that android actually has been hijacked.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-27703318 I look forward to the advice that we should all remove the SD cards from our phones. |

Maybe you should try and understand those Android SD card access changes we talked about earlier. (other threads maybe)

Yes, that is how it now is, those very same SD card access rights that got described as being completely useless. (not by you).
Personally I prefer full open access, but even as is now but an SD card means a device is not that severely limited by lack of memory. Up to 128GB extra storage(0r 258GB for dual SD phones) is very much 'music to my ears'. |

Now if you are saying this issue has already been solved (I assume that is subject to which version of android you are running), then that is very reassuring. Although I'm not quite sure now that statement can be made based on the information available. |

Obviously it looks solved though rooting tricks could give back access but that is a user choice.
And yes sorry, I forgot your major role as my 'thought policeman'. |

And yes sorry, I forgot your major role as my 'thought policeman'. I posted an article which was very closely related to the hijacking issue posted about iOS (although that appears to have been more of an issue with users securing their accounts). The advice then was to disable the service (find my phone) and use the full security features available. It seems in this case you are saying the 'problem' has already been solved, but I'm still not sure how. |

I'm not sure what you are talking about and it is a shame you were unable to have a sensbile conversation without some silly comment.
....It seems in this case you are saying the 'problem' has already been solved, but I'm still not sure how. Read up or read the relevant forum posts again. I'm not your waiter/cook/tutor! |

When near every reply is "not sure what you are talking about" how can I not have been sensible?
Read up or read the relevant forum posts again. I'm not your waiter/cook/tutor! Waiter or cook.....that might suit you better ![]() I've read all I need thanks. It is clearly an issue that is worth highlighting despite your attempts to dismiss it. |

And I just highlighted the problem of rooting.
Try again! ![]() So this problem is only related to those that root their phones? Are you guessing, or have you read that somewhere? |
