That's what I gathered from the spoilers but then I thought....

Spoiler
why would Phil just hand over 10k? Especially when he wasn't willing to help when Mick went to him in the first place regarding the rising damp?

Spoiler
Shirley may feel Phil owes her the money due to his part in covering up Heather's death and the fact that it was her son that killed her. That's the only reason I can think. Pretty low of Shirley, to be honest, but if she's desperate enough I can see her using that.

And as for him not willing to help with the damp, did Shirley actually ask him specifically? He might not have given it to Mick but it will probably be a different story when Shirley asks him as he still seems to have feelings for her.

Spoiler
I really hope that they don't bring that up again, we had almost a whole year of Shirley 'attempting' to extort money from Phil because of Heather, it was ridiculous and was not good for Shirley's character.

I think Mick and Shirley both went round and mentioned it and he said he wasn't going to help, I can't remember exactly what happened, though it was obviously a plot device to introduce Stan.

Shirley and Phil have been getting on and it's quite refreshing so I really hope they haven't resorted to that again, it's possible she threatens about Ronnie/Carl? I wish they would stop making Shirley do things like that though.

She is a hypocrite and annoying to boot.

Found her grating in last night's episode.

I'm sure she will continue to make up the rules as she goes along

Why do people keep saying this? Lindsay Coulson and Adam Woodyatt have both been brought to the forefront and have had more screen time and Letitia Dean has a huge story in the pipeline? I don't get it.

I can't remember Shirley ever having a s/l of her own before. Like you I can't understand why people begrudge Linda Henry being given something to do at last.

She probably believes her actions are more forgivable, or understands the reasons more as she is her. Either she's right or she has blotted out the worst of what she has done, a lot of people do this is a coping mechanism.

Exactly, I think this story is also going to explain Shirley a lot and why she acts the way she does, I think its worth exploring. Linda is one of their strongest actresses. It just baffles me why she is the only one mentioned but none of the others?

I think that's more to do with her being given equal status to the likes of Sharon, Ian and Phil.....not allowed.

I think you might be right.
Heaven forbid a decent character played by a decent actress should be given equal status to Sharon, Ian and Phil.
I mean that's just not on.

Honestly though, I think she deserves to be there.
