Rita yesterday and Steve in less brutal terms a few weeks ago really has cheered me up. I also loved Rob pointing out that (righly or wrongly) she'd always get attention because she's beautiful and sexy and people want to **** her but she's not a longterm prospect for any sensible man because she is a gobby cow who flies off the handle at the slightest thing - and I would add can't keep their bib out of other people's business.
And yes, she still didn't get it, even at the end.
I'd feel sorry for her for being naive except that it was her that did most of the running, not Peter (she was threatening and damned near stalking him after only one kiss and remember that she went to his flat on the morning of his wedding before anything had happened) and she didn't care about Carla, the babys or more importantly Simon's welfare in wanting to hurt Peter in revenge for being dunmped.”
Peter falling apart seemed to spur her on too, as though she could be the one to "save" him drawing parallels with her dad. Even though he told her that she was adding to his stress with her demands. Her entire personality became so selfish, which had never previously been the case, wanting him to destroy lives by running away with her. It was completely insane.
She had no reason to want to hurt Carla, or Simon who clearly adored her, but she never even factored them in, even peter and his health didn't matter she just wanted to 'win'. It was all so self-centered that you couldn't empathise with her character at all.
How many times did Peter try to get rid of her? Their accidental ginnel pow-wows and boring meetings in hotels to talk over the same thing outnumbered their sexual encounters by about 10-1. He seemingly only carried it on in fear of her telling Carla, but in her mind it was romantic. It took until tonight before someone put her right, and it was cathartic.
She was so mouthy and emotionally fragile, that even when faced with the possibility of her death she STILL carried on like a self-righteous gobby kid. By the end she'd completely lost it and looked every bit the delusional and damaged child that she was. Rob and Peter's reactions tonight were so spot on, it shone a light onto who Tina had become, and just how egotistical and vindictive she was (when before she was morally right, most of the time)
