Just saying.....surely it's a health and safety risk??

I'm sure Charlie Stubbs had it?

Mentioned this on the episode discussion thread.

The door was, as Stupid_Head not-so-stupidly points out, a relic from the days when Charlie Stubbs lived there. It was very rarely seen even during his time in the flat. It hasn't been seen for years.

I think that the production team have used some big dramatic licence with the reappearance of the door. Another strong example of the 'story' overruling the character, which is something Corrie would deny to their last breath. The story liners, writers and directors really went out of their way to resurrect the door to the balcony, just so that Tina could fall off. Why Tina would go out there at that moment is beyond me. It was also ridiculous that the door was more like one of the ones that leads from the gunnel into the back yards than a proper door.

Artistic licence gone too far, in my opinion.

Glad you remembered better than me, all I could think back to was Charlie living there and walking through it once, but as you said hadn't seen it for years.

Indeed. If she wanted her voice to be heard, why not go to the pub and reveal all? Why go on top of a not-in-use builder's yard where noone walks by?

Since their flat is on the second floor (or on whichever floor) overlooking the yard, itself.

The builder's yard and flat, which Owen owns.

Health and issues a-plenty, it's true there are, yes.

Rob wasn't letting her leave though. It seemed like she ran to the back door to get away. I had no idea that door was there and where exactly was she going to go when she got there I thought the idea was she was just trying to get away from Rob.

She tried to open the doors to the Builders Yard 'office' though, so I thought her plan was to try and run down the steps and get out onto the street that way?

I have to agree. I didn't actually remember the door from any previous tenants but it does logically make sense there would be one as it wasn't always a flat. But absolutely nuts that we havenakt seen it for so long (perhaps an establishing shot of her overseeing the Street looking out for Peter in recent weeks would have done it) and why in God's name did she run out there at that moment in time. You're being threatened by someone - run to the most dangerous place in your home????? Crazy and stupid.

OK he didn't fall off but it must be a bad luck sign according to Weatherfield Mythology

As JoshuaRy said in the post above yours she was banging on the door to the builders yard so she was hoping that door would be open for her to escape through. But putting my H&S head on logic would dictate that there should be a proper fire escape with a staircase that leads down to the ground from that balcony.

The door has always been there, just never used, perhaps its more of a fire exit? Here's the builders yard at Granada from back in 2012

Yes I saw that post after i'd done mine. I can see that although surely the door is generally locked from the inside after office hours and she'd know that having worked there. Going down her own staircase or using the landlind to ring 999 or anyone (maybe doesn't know Carla's number but muist know someone's - I do, probably about 10 relatives or friends numbers off by heart) would be the better plan. But, I guess that we should make allowances for her not thinking straight because she was upset over the situation with Peter and scared of Rob. Though if she was that scared, she'd have capitulated, said whatever she needed to to get herself out of the immediate situation and then told all. But Tina is a gobby cow who loves a fight so would never do that - in character I guess.

I wasn't saying it hadn't been there, I was saying that it had never been seen in use use by the occupants of the flat

I was watching thinking where the hell is she going? Cause the door looked like it lead to the back alleys but then she was on a random balcony before I eventually realised where we were.

Also she was a total moron, she should have told Rob what he wanted, he'd of left and then she could have done whatever she wanted.

Oh and Brummy Girl I agree that you'd think there would be some kind of emergency staircase for fire. But then 2 or 3 story houses (or higher flats) don't have that always. I think the assumption is that if you are being careful, climbing down, jumping only a few feet to the story below you'll manage. A little different to falling head first from even 20 feet.

True, but I reckon the only reason Tina used it then was because she was banking on Jason being in the office.

Awkward moment when you're trying to have a serious argument with Rob and end up in effin Narnia.

Did anyone else find it totally unbelievable and lazy of the writers for Tina to all of a sudden have this convenient balcony/outside space just off her flat. A balcony that we have never once seen her use or ever hear her mention it. Typical shody Corrie at the moment.

Was it a balcony or did she climb out of the window onto the scaffolding?

It did look very rough! Who'd sit out on a balcony to have their croissants with bare scaffolding and green netting!
They should've at least had some scenes beforehand of Tina and Stef actually using the balcony!

It's the builder's yard balcony. Her flat is upstairs next to the builders yard and her back door leads straight into it. That's why she was talking about what the new landlord would charge for the rent - Owen sold the builders yard and the flat is part of it.

thats what i thought seems very weird, from her flat to the balcony? very odd!
