EE - Did Michael love or hate Ronnie?

I know this is a bizarre thing to bring up, as Michael is history now, but I was randomly watching some of their scenes on youtube earlier today and it got me thinking...what was Michael's true opinion of her?

Michael was undoubtedly a functioning psychopath and he was never afraid to admit it. And he always expressed a lot of pessimism towards Ronnie, although it was clear that he saw some of himself within her, which made him somewhat fascinated by her. But what was his true opinion of her? Did he secretly have feelings for her deep down? It was never made clear

He hated that he loved her which sounds kinda cheesy.

He knew that since they were both messed up, they were kinda perfect for each other but he resented the fact that she wasn't with him. I am sure he would have been more than willing to get with her if she consented. It was actually Ronnie that started the whole little fued if I am remembering correctly.

Ronnie and Michael scenes were amazing when they happened, it's a shame there were so few of them. Truth be told, I resented the fact they weren't together as well, would have been amazing.

Damn LN for killing Michael off

Michael was too good for Ronnie. She couldn't deal with him. Don't be fooled with how she dealt with Carl. He's nothing compared to Michael

He hated her because she reminded him of himself - a psycho. Being a psycho, he then became obsessed with her. There was no love there.

He tried it on and Ronnie turned him down so that hurt his ego?

He thought Ronnie was into him because of her doing psycho things beforehand. Can't quite remember the details but it was Ronnie giving him the wrong idea.

Michael was the best male character for many years down entirely to the input and suggestions of the superb SJS.

He died for nothing, Janine had gone within months.

What a waste, can you imagine his forensic one liners towards the Carter's or his cynical take on Lucy's murder?

One of the finest ever to grace the square in my book.

No it wasn't. It was Michael becoming infatuated.

I remember him sneaking into the flat and lying in her bed and everything.

Michael never cared for anyone, Scarlett, Janine, Alice or even himself.

He was a creepy, cold blooded, twisted psycho who had absolutely no feelings at all!

He was a nasty, mean spirited man!

Michael didn't love anybody but himself.

He was obsessed with Ronnie because he couldn't have her. She rejected him, and his ego couldn't take it.

Yeah its a huge shame that story never went anywhere. Michael became very controlling of Roxy basically because she wasn't Ronnie and it looked like an interesting story was planned but they dropped it in favour of pairing him up with Janine. I always thought that was a mistake as Charlie Brooks went on leave so the ripping her off story was a waste of time. It also left Rita Simons with no material for like a year.

This.

She found out that Michael was Tommy's father and thought she'd be caught out for swapping the babies. She had a passport photo of Michael and was trying to decide whether there was a resemblance between Michael and Tommy. He caught her with the photo so thought that she fancied him. She was also trying to get Michael out of the flat without really giving a reason, so it looked to him like she wanted to remove the temptation.

It's so weird that you started this thread today because I was actually watching some Michael related Youtube videos (it happens more frequently than I'd like to admit) and I wondered the exact same thing.

I think that the day before Ronnie's trial when Michael has his confrontation with her in the gym, has Michael explaining it far better than any of us could. He'd went through his life feeling Iike an outcast who wasn't able to connect with people and when he met Ronnie he felt this relief of somebody who finally got it, who was finally like him. I don't think Michael loved Ronnie, truthfully I think he just enjoyed that relief and when he couldn't get her to see what he seen Michael was quick to turn on Ronnie and attempt to get him jailed.

It was such a shame that Michael left when he did and I'll never forgive the people who decided that he was better off dead than left with a chance of return in the future. He was so often the only bright light during a very bleak period for Eastenders and I miss him all the time. Ronnie and Michael could have done so much more in a feud this time around, finally somebody who could prove a match for Ronnie.

I often wonder if he saw his mother in her
His mother was a woman who couldn't cope with a down syndrome child and killed herself

Ronnie was a woman who lost her baby, couldn't cope and then took a child away from someone else.

Michael's childhood was taken away from him by his mother killing herself
So he felt as if Ronnie took away Tommy's childhood and those very first important months that Alfie and Kat missed.

This so much! 2013 was such a bad year for Eastenders and the few Michael moments we actually got were as good as we were getting the whole year.

Stupid Stupid decision to kill him off, they should have been begging SJS to stay as I have said many times but he really wasn't appreciated.

He neither loved nor hated her. He was obsessed with the idea of "attaining" her.
