Set MP3 as ringtone for Sony Xperia E1?

I have just got a Sony Xperia E1. Is it possible to to set a MP3 as a ringtone, and one also for text alerts? I can't seem to find it anywhere. Would be grateful if someone could shed some light on this, thank you.

You should be able to in the sound settings for changing ringtones and in the message settings for changing notifications. You should also be able to assign a different ringtone to each Contact in the contacts list, but you may have to copy the MP3 to the ringtone and notifications folders.

On an unrelated note, what is the built in speaker like for loudness and sound quality? and do you know if it'll get the kitkat 4.4 update? As I'm tempted to get one of these phones.
