why did whitney hate lucy beale so much
this all seems to have just come out of nowhere, i know she was upset with her that she slept with that leee carter boy but she was hardly in love with him and had only just met him how can she hate her so much to the point she would rot rot in hell? just seems out of character this is the problem i have with soaps is when characters suddenly have a personality transplant, if lucy and whitney had always had a a troubled relationship i would understand but they never really did , if anything lauren and lucy had far more falling outs and whitney was usually just the other mate.

So that they all remain potential suspects no matter how unlikely or pathetic that may be.

I thought it was because Lucy told Lee that he was lucky that he would now get it for free as Whitney used to charges for it, of course she didn't mean to haha it slipped out

Lucy had said a number of extremely spiteful things to and about Whitney leading up to her death, and then last night we found out she had been sending her a succession of deeply hurtful texts as well, criticising her appearance.

Going by what i have seen and what i think could of been Lucy's own perspective is that........
Lucy was perhaps the only person who never tip toed around Whitney. She said it as it was and never cared about her feelings. When it comes to Whitney, she is very sensitive, especially with men and relationships (understandable considering her abuse) but Lucy never felt sympathy and looked at whitney as a weak individual who let her abuse rule her life. |

I remember them being iffy friends for a while. Didn't Lucy try to steal a guy from Whitney? Tyler? I don't know if there is anything else.
When Whitney looked at Lucy's Facebook at Lauren's house she deleted a PM thread between the two of them. I screenshot it, but the last message was just ............. |

I'm not sure about the whole weight comments ringing true [yet?], but Lucy was never friendly with Whitney [or, if she was, it was because they were with other company like Lauren etc.]. |

Whitney and Lucy never had the best of relationships, Lucy at times was quite bitchy towards Whitney but they seem to have tolerated each other for Lauren's sake because they are both good friends with her, even at one point when Lauren was going through a major breakdown last year & Lauren and Lucy fell out they seem to get on quite well I think that was showing Lauren's isolation from her friends,
but obviously recently Lucy made comments towards Whitney about Tony and then she slept with Lee, who was also playing around with Whit, this prompted Whitney to say she hated Lucy which was a bit stupid cause nothing was set in stone with Lee & well it's Whitney she goes through men quickly, anyway someone was writing nasty stuff online about Lucy and wrote that Rot In Hell note left at her funeral which turned out to be Whit now it's been revealed that Lucy was sending Whitney nasty texts apparently about her weight, appearance & Carol, which tbh I thought was a bit odd way, Lucy was a bitch at times but vindictive and nasty like that sounds a bit off, last time Whitney saw Lucy she just stared at her, obviously this is to make her look like a suspect but I think it's a bit of a weak link. |

Lucy was a nasty piece of work, a combination of the worst qualities of both her parents. Apart from her ambition and determination to succeed, which are admirable qualities, I found her an unlikeable, obnoxious, self obsessed brat who has been a bully since her early teens. |

The whole cast seems to have forgotten how nasty she could be. Admittedly this does tend to happen when someone dies out of respect but it seems likely that Lucy may well have been the architect of her own destruction. She would have bullied or blackmailed anyone at the drop of a hat and maybe trying it with the wrong person is what has led to her demise. I don't think Whitney killed Lucy but it is at least realistic that she didn't like her. |

It doesn't really make much sense though. The day after Lucy died, before her body was discovered and her death was announced, we had the scene with Whitney and Bianca in the shop and Whitney said "Well I suppose it wasn't Lucy's fault" (or something along those lines) meaning that she calmed down and had chance to realise that Lucy wasn't to blame for Lee's actions. But if they had argued over text and it had got nasty then surely Whitney would have been hateful rather than almost reasonable like she was then? She went from that calm realisation to hating her again after she died and obviously Lucy couldn't have said any more after she died.
Edit: Lucy's phone was taken, so could it be possible that whoever took the phone texted that stuff to Whitney before Whitney knew she was dead and assumed it was her? |

Personally, I find it very difficult to feel sympathy for Whitney. Lucy could be a horrible, vile, selfish, bitchy brat, but she was, IMO, a good person deep down. Like many other EE women, Lucy used a bitchy/nasty/cruel facade towards people so as to hide her weaknesses and insecurities. Like Janine, Shirley, Kat and Whitney herself, Lucy was deeply, deeply insecure and sensitive. All these women put on brassy/feisty fronts to hide the fact that they're lost little girls, who don't really understand life, and don't really like it.
Anyway, I was bullied for several years in school, to the degree I eventually left, but I would never ever be so vile as to make a note for my deceased former bully saying "Rot in Hell", even if I didn't mean to drop it at the church. I firmly believe people, no matter how vile, should be given peace in death, which is why I'm against capital punishment. We should suffer (if we deserve to) while we're alive, not after death. And if we don't, that's just too bad. There are several public figures I've loathed, but people celebrating their deaths, or destroying their graves, is unforgivably distasteful and immoral, IMO. Lucy could be a truly nasty, horrible person, but nothing excuses Whitney's note at the funeral, IMO.

If they are going to keep this storyline going for a year, the list is likely to be quite long. The key point is what did she do that might make someone actually want to kill her? It's unlikely to be Whitney IMO. Lucy might have tried to get one over someone who was far more ruthless than she bargained for. |

It sounded as if the texts and jibes about Whitney's appearance had been going on for a long time so it's unlikely that this only happened when her phone went missing just before she died. |

Why did Whitney hate Lucy? Because she's a chav. Chavs hate everyone.
I'm sure Ian Beale would like to repay Whitney the favour when she dies of HIV one day .

Whitney always looks grubby and unkempt, like she needs a bloody good scrub in the shower.
She was always jealous of the cool and lovely Lucy. Whitney is just plain, rotten and nasty. |
