BGT live show ratings plummet - yesterdays was worst ever rating!!

BGT's live show ratings have been plummetting so far this week. Yesterdays results show averaged only 6.4million viewers on average, which was the program's worst ever rating for a live episode.

It seems to confirm what most people are saying: the talent is poor this year.

6.4million is very low for BGT when you consider in previous years it was easily getting 8m+ and in 2009 it was averaging 11m+ for its semi finals. It's audience has almost halved since the 2009 semis.

Yesterdays show was, well, dire. Might not have been the worst ever but it was TERRIBLE. It will probably have a knock on effect tonight and the ratings could go lower.

Yesterday was indeed the worst ever rating for a live BGT show.

There is nobody that makes you go "wow he/she/they are amazing"

Instead I find myself shrugging my shoulders after most performances only for the judges to tell me that he/she/they are world class and will go on to have a successful career doing their act

Didn't the episode previously have 11m though?

I meant in quality but then again, the argument is there for that too

Oh stop with all these BGT-bashing threads, BGT doesn't deserve all the stick, give it to the depressing and dull-as-dishwater Abdication Street.

And stop saying its the LOWEST EVER rating, the amount it got last night isn't even considered a flop!!!

Erm 6.4million was the results show!

There was no point in watching the results show last night as it was so predictable who the top three would be as it has been most nights to be honest.

live shows launched with 9 million.

2009 is not really comparable as the country was going Susan Boyle crazy

The camera work leaves a lot to be desired - we never seem to see the acts in their entirety. Too many long shots, side shots, shots of the judges, shots of the audience....., not to mention the constant ad breaks. I'm not surprised that less people are tuning in.

I am pleased that they read these threads to find out how people rate it.

It does seem that the talent pool is too shallow to cover all of these semi-finals. I love the show, but they might need to put less live shows on rather than putting stuff like that fashion bit on. Or the ventriloquist, as nice as he seemed.

well I thought it was just me who thought this year is a very poor show ...perhaps a case of Britain has run out of talent?

there really is no crackle to any of the acts this year, as for the advert breaks they should name it Britain's got adverts ...seems its the variety acts breaking up the commercials!

So did I.
9 acts.
7 out of the 9 were singers or dancers.
Out of the remaining 2 we had a fashion guy who had no act, and a ventriloquist whose act fell flat.

I thought that it was a very dull show. More so than last night's.
I'm not knocking the ability of the singing and dancing acts, but it was very samey and monotonous as the show went on.

So I'm wondering if tonight's show will achieve even lower ratings than the previous night.

I find it very hard to believe that Britain is lacking in talent.
I think it's more the case that the talent chosen to appear on the show is dependent on the tastes of the showmakers and what they like.

I would imagine that there are extremely talented people in the UK. I just doubt that they are the type of thing that the makers of this show tend to like.
I think that the show tries so hard to appeal to the general mainstream, or at least what they believe the mainstream will like, that what we eventually get to see is very vanilla and bland due to the diluting effect of the selection process.
