He gets sent to prison for helping his mother, and now might get sent down for trying to help/support his sister..

You can argue about him taking it too far, but his intentions initially was good, he's not some cold hearted killer/person. He does a few dodgy hairdryer and deals with his BarlowsBargains electric shop - but nothing really in the grand scheme of things compared to most people.

I've really started to like Rob this last couple of episodes. A deeply misunderstood bloke, all he ever wanted to do was flog hairdryers.

He looked pretty cold hearted to me.....I hope he gets his comeuppance and soon..

He goes from a reasonable nice enough character, a bit of a rogue whose worst crime was just flogging stolen goods, now turned into a cold blooded killer. Good going Corrie, anything for sensationalism. Now poor Marc Baylis will be axed from the show, what a waste. All to give tango Tina an exit.

Not necessarily...Tracy murdered someone and she is still in the show..

Yes, but for some reason, which I will never understand, Tracy gets different treatment for the way she behaves and is untouchable, whereas every other villain seems to get written out.

Its a bit insulting really, its acceptable for Tracy to kill someone and reference to it as if its comical, yet other (better) characters get written out because what they did was bad and it would send out a wrong message? Pull the other one producers.

I am reminded of a more sophisticated John Stape: “All I ever wanted to do was teach!”

Rob really made my stomach churn tonight. He was really evil. Murdering a young girl because she's going to tell the police you pushed her, wtf? What a message to convey! I liked Rob but someone who could behave as he did tonight can't carry on as a cuddly soap character, can they?
John Stape went through hell for being a hapless accidental murderer but you can't imagine him bludgeoning somebody to death with malicious intent. That was just foul tonight and it upset me tbh.
The standards on Corrie are completely up the left.
They demand that we feel outraged about one of the characters making an insidious comment to another,, but then they use a character who is supposedly a lovable rogue type and show him cold bloodedly murdering a young woman and walking away as if he's just pinched somebody's car, and showing about as much compassion for her. Sick.

I mean he originally went to prison because he wanted to help his mum and paid the price. He wasn't evil. But now they have made him a cold blooded killer with no turning back. Bad movie Coronation Street, he had potential and again they have blown it. I think they are incapable of making lovable rogue characters, just looks like laziness to me.

I bet you if the likes of Mike Baldwin, Len Fairclough of Ray Langton were introduced now the producers would make them cold blooded killers.

I can't decide if I'm disappointed or really happy that it turned out to be Rob. One side of me really liked him until now, I didn't think he was evil just as you say 'misunderstood' until his last words to Tina about dying gobby sounded so cruel! I'm kind of sad in a sense they've made him the killer which will no doubt lead to his exit at somepoint.

The other half is pleased simply because it wasn't Peter, Carla or Tracy these three are a lot more iconic and I'd hate for them to have to leave because of Tina.

I agree. The whole programme has become horribly ****ed up recently.

This. She should've just died after the fall, and skipped the unrealistic getting straight back up and talking like nothing had happened. That way, Rob could've retained the viewer sympathy (or some of it anyway) and people could've actually found themselves rooting for him. Instead, they've turned him into a cold hearted, cliche soap killer for the sake of a 'shock twist'. There's no way Rob can stay long term, realistically. And if he does, he'll forever be a 'villain'.

Tina should just of hopped on a taxi and buggered off.

If Rob kills her in hospital I swear I am done. I already have an idea how this whole scenario will pan out. Someone will be wrongfully accused and possibly locked up, blah blah blah. Then Rob will start threatening people, before confessing then either going to prison or getting killed off. This has been played over and over almost every year and its getting boring.

We had good scenes the other week with him comforting Carla, but now that will all be ruined especially when

Agreed.

Yes I am aware of this and have pointed out he went to prison because of he did it for his mum. I am not excusing his actions, but he obviously lived a shoddy life, his mum was in debt to drug dealers and he felt inclined to act as a getaway driver to help her pay it off. Plus I believe they were on their own at that point as Carla had moved on and married Paul.

Completely different than beating somebody to death in cold blood, especially just for another sensationalist murder plot which has been done to death now. Corrie seem obsessed with wanting to create the next Richard Hillman all the time.

I'm kind of disappointed. I still understood Rob last night, he didn't mean to push Tina from the balcony, Marc's interviewed seemed to suggest that Rob would really suffer from this incident, and I thought oh yes, he feels awful how he mistakenly killed her.

But after tonight, I'm just sad that he's brutally murdered her, in cold blood. Stuart Blackburn said 'he always thought Rob had a dark side', I don't think this dark though. It was brutal. Tracy is the calculated one, as we've seen in the past, but not Rob. Of course he'll be gone by this time next year, or I assume so, which is a shame because I really like Tracy and Rob together. But he won't recover from this, so he'll have to go.

I wish that somebody else had finished Tina off, it'd have made for a much better storyline, more intrigue and debate about who should be jailed, whose fault it really was. I'd have loved Carla to have done it. A quick showdown before hand, Tina telling Carla that she's shopping Rob to the police, a scared Carla killing Tina out of anger about the affair and the horrible prospect of bringing up the baby without Rob's help (given that Tina was going to call the police).

That's just my tuppence worth, but I think overall, it'd have been a much better storyline that way.

I agree its annoying when they change characters personality just to suit storylines.

Rob suffering guilt over Tina's death after her fall would of been good in my opinion, but of course they go down yet another Corrie Killer route. We can't actually have the writers doing something new, instead of playing the same thing over and over. Marc will be written out, shame he worked really well with Carla and (I kinda feel bad for saying this) Tracy.

They really need to learn to let these Hillman type stories go.

I just wanted to second the bit at the end about how they would turn Mike, Len etc into killers today as I believe this to be patently true.
I am beginning to notice a very strong pattern as to what is going on with the men in the street but I fear to pass comment would be viewed as terribly un PC so I'm going to leave at for the moment. Though it is hard.

But there is a common denominator.

Aside from that, it seems as though they forget they're supposedly depicting the ordinary lives of everyday folk when it's implied like tonight that almost any random person would be prepared, in the heat of the moment, turn murderous and kill someone just to save their own skin/ cover up their crimes, etc.
Not something I want to believe, even if it is a wicked world. Some of us have got this thing called a conscience. that would stop us taking a life to serve a purpose.
I know it seems to be a difficult concept for the makers of Corrie to get their heads around sadly.
