Last weekend I adopted a cat and brought him home . I have already another cat who has lived with other cats before but sadly they passed away . For the last week we have kept them separate and been doing things like swapping toys and beds so they can get used to each others smells also this morning whilst new cat sneaked into a room and sat on the window sill cat who was here before jumped up on the other side and they just looked at each other and then looked away no hissing , no attacking the glass more of a look of who are you ?
Now being in the same room could be completely different and this is where I am nervous Are there any good tips for the face to face meeting ?

Feliway is supposed to calm them down in these situations, but it seems possible these two may be cool with each other anyway.

Escape routes so they each have somewhere to go if they don't want to directly interact, Cats can live around each other rather than with each other if they don't really get on.

If they both like playing then getting them both involve in a game might help.

Feed them in the same place so they can see each other but will be more interested in the food at the time.

you're doing all the right things. keep swapping their scents and keep them apart for a wee while longer with supervised meets. when they are together give them lots of toys to play with and treats so they associate good memories with meeting. the best toys for this is probably the fishing rod type toys that you can control and give them both equal playtime. a feliway diffuser is also great to relieve stress.

Thanks for all the replies The cats have met and there has been some hissing and growling from the original cat while new cat just gives a look of just chill out lol

Today is first day the new cat has been allowed in the garden and both cats are laying in sun together so must be friends lol
