Apologies if this has already been discussed etc, I did a search and couldn't find anything.
Also apologies in advance if I mess up, it's my first new thread

I was just thinking, what would the Tina storyline in CS be like if Chris Fountain hadn't been suspended. Would they have done the same story but had him in the frame? It could have been very interesting!

Knowing Stuart Blackburn he would have split up Tina McIntyre and Tommy Duckworth by now, he hates happy couples I think.

Congratulations on your first thread!

Does he? We've got David and Kylie, who reunited, Chesney and Sinead, beth and Kirk (legends) Jason and Eva, plus whoever else.

David and Kylie Platt split up under horrendous circumstances and then have barely had any screen time since their reunion.

Jason Grimshaw and Eva Price have barely had any screen time since getting together and baring in mind Tony Stewarts constant flattery and gifts... I see trouble brewing there.

Beth Tinker and Kirk Sutherland are a great couple but hardly Corries leading man and lady (and yes I am a huge fan of the coupling and Beths solo scenes.)

Chesney Brown and Sinead Tinker have barely had any screen time as well... give it time!

Peter Barlow and Carla Barlow - Splitting up.

Rob Donovan and Tracy Barlow - Eventual will be split apart now his time limit has started on his exit.

Roy Cropper and Hayley Cropper - Widowed and killed off when she could have gone to Africa again!

Nick Tilsley and Leanne Tilsley - Getting divorced.

Owen Armstrong and Anan Windass - In danger od splitting up.

Lloyd Mullaney and Andrea - She is married so she either dumps Lloyd or her marriage!

Maria Connor and Marcus Dent - Split up.

Marcus Dent and Todd Grimshaw - Splitting up.

Do I need to carry on?

No. Because a) I'm sure you understand that a street full of happy couples would not provide sufficient drama to keep people watching, and b) as regards screen time, it's called 'character rotation' and unlike some other soaps, Corrie does this very well.

Seriously, you rather if Hayley left Roy to go to Africa instead of dying? Wouldn't that be splitting them up?

Okay Kylie and David split up briefly, but this was obviously going to happen when David was harassing Nick (a story no doubt planned when Collinson was still in it). Despite their little screen time, I found their little roleplaying at the bar amusing.

Maria and Marcus are no loss, their pairing was stupid in the first place.

I wouldn't call Tommy or Tina a happy couple. Tommy always looked miserable, ended up getting him and Tina into debt, then split from her during the surrogacy. Him leaving her was hardly a shock, and not the first time either.

Really because it has been the Tina McIntyre, Peter Barlow, Carla Barlow show and only recently stopped using Nick Tilsley and Leanne Tilsley so excessively!

The rest of the cast, yes I must admit have a decent balance of screen time.

Guys all I said was is that he has a habit of splitting up couples, I didn't say if it wasn't or was necessary. I'm thinking more about his time on Emmerdale.

Oh yes, you're right about that, I just don't think it's in any way unique to Blackburn - apart from 'filler' and background characters, all the major characters in all soaps tend to change partners more often than I change my knickers. (Erm, that's a lot in case there was any doubt).

I also personally think Tommy and Tina were the most tedious couple ever. He was just her little lapdog, which is rarely interesting to watch.

Your knickers sound refreshing!

I liked Chris Fountain better as Justin Burton in Hollyoaks.

Her exit storyline would still have been big
