EE Launches own brand tablet - Eagle
EE have a new tablet offering for just £49 with a 2GB a month data contract for £15 a month.
The tablet is made by Huawei who also make the EE Kestrel smartphone and it's based on the Mediapad M1 (the Kestrel is based on the Ascend P6), it's 4g enabled and has an 8" Screen with Micro SD storage available. Looks and interesting new entrant for mobile tablet users. http://www.stuff.tv/android/200-new-...4g-tablet/news |

It's a nice looking device actually, although I find my nexus 7 too small so if I were to buy another tablet I'd go back to a 10" one.
Pretty nice offer though and a nice tablet. |

Hmm, I thought Huawei wanted to move away from carrier branded devices and make a name for themselves. Then again it's fairly to obvious to see why they've struck this deal with EE.
Huawei could easily see their marketshare increase in the UK due to these low cost affordable pay as you go / Pay monthly options from EE. I was speaking to someone from Huawei the other day who said Huawei are looking to focus on making a name for themselves by releasing 4G devices this year across all price categories from the Kestral at £99 to the Ascend P7 at a higher price. |

Huawei have been supplying devices to mobile networks in the UK for many years and are the leading supplier of USB 3G dongles and 3G Wi-Fi devices on a number of UK networks.
They also are the supplier of BT's Century 21 technology and partner with O2 and EE for 4G deployment across the UK. They are obviously keen to develop their smartphone and tablet sales and have recently launched a brand awareness campaign with Capital FM. Huawei will do well with supplies of OEM equipment to EE but need to develop their own branding to establish themselves and I have no doubt they will with products like the Ascend P7 smartphone which has a very competitive specification for it's price point. |

If it has phone capabilities it's an even better bargain.

The Mediapad M1 offers both voice calls and text capabilities so i'd assume this rebranded model would offer the same.
You'd need a plan with calls/texts/data to take advantage though. Just like pretty much every network, every contract for a tablet is just data only. So you;d need to buy this off contract. |
