For his musical ability.

God, no. He's vile on every level.

He has great ability at writing commercial music for the lowest common denominator.

No he isn't, can't stand the man.

No, he's a pain in my ear holes.

He should be frozen in carbonite and blasted into space

Oh he's okay. I don't particularly like his politics or tax arrangements, but that aside he seems decent enough. I don't think the ability to write a catchy tune makes him a national treasure though.

If, by English Treasure, you mean tvvat, then yes - very much so.

I don't mind him, but 'English Treasure' status is awarded ridiculously easily nowadays, so the answer is - NO!

Why the negative comments about him? He's a good song writer, good singer, good musician, he's done a fair bit for the entertainment industry aswell, not to mention the queens jubilee.

And people say he's vile and a twat? What have YOU done for the UK? Yeah didn't think so lol

his treasure chest is full, due to tax dodging, so the answer is yes.

Not a treasure. He's a creator of mediocre music and has a bland personality.
Remember how grannies used to love Daniel O'Donnell? Well Gary Barlow is the equivalent for the menopausals.

The people saying 'he is vile on every level' have a screw loose somewhere, or are unable to make any point without the most absurd hyperbole.

Never wrote a good song.

Music really is on it's arse if we're claiming this guy as a treasure.

No, no he is not.

Do you mean the sort of treasure that should be buried on a desert island? In which case, yes.

No.

He seems to have been forced upon us.

Your justification for him being a national treasure rests on three subjective points about music, something he did for the entertainment industry to line his own pockets and something he did for some pointless, super rich old bint, who has done nothing to earn her extremely luxurious lifestyle. Not the strongest argument if we're honest.

As for your other point, it's kind of odd to throw out that question and then make up the answer yourself before you've even given anyone the chance to respond to it. I'll tell you what the average person does for the UK- they work bloody hard, pay tax and do a damn sight more work than Gary and his shitty clichéd love songs.

As part of a team I kept your electricity flowing for 30 years. Bit more than some guy singing.

Still no knighthood though, the poor love. I guess he'll have to keep on licking and hope everyone forgets about his tax dodging antics.

I think you sum it up very well

No. Robbie Williams has a much better music catalogue.

England has much better examples of musical prowess than him. His music is rotten, and he's an absolute tit on X Factor.

Buried treasure would be preferable.

I prefer Robbie Williams too.

But Gary's harmless, and he seems a pleasant enough chap, tax evasion aside, of course. And he has written a million love songs, after all.
