What's happened to Lofty (Casualty)
He's been absent for a couple of weeks, and hasn't had any real storyline since his first episode. (I don't count him driving that mouthy kid with Dixie)

Lee Mead was promoting Casualty on In It To Win It a couple of weeks ago. So I'm sure he's no left. Maybe busy with another project?

Sorry but I fail to see the interest in him: possibly the blandest non-entity of a character to appear in Casualty for a very long time. Even his name "Lofty" is a very bad joke devised by that other hopeless kid-character, nurse Robyn, which isn't funny in the least. At least nicknames in Casualty of old - Ash and Duffy, for example - were actually linked to the characters' names. "Lofty" is contrived nonsense surrounding an extremely contrived, implausible storyline where he was hiding in Robyn's flat. You have to wonder about the people who write this stuff.
The other most memorable thing I recall about "Lofty" at this point in time was that awful saccharine shot of him playing with a random dog's ears as a Dolly Parton song was playing randomly in a random storyline a few weeks ago when Dixie drove a patient randomly to see his dying mother in a hospice. It was terrible television. I hope Lee Mead is axed very, very soon. He adds absolutely nothing to the show. |
