Was already happy with my 920 but 8.1 makes it even better. Apps missing for me boil down to PayPal integration with eBay, the rest I am happy with.

Recently got myself a Windows phone (Lumia 920), just as change from my usual Iphone 4s that I have been using for last few years, and on the whole I have been pleasantly surprised.

There are more apps available than I thought there would be. Yes there are notible ommissions, namely a couple of banking apps and Sky, as previously mentioned, but apart from those I cannot see anything I am desperate to have.

Couple of minor grips:
- there seems to be lag when taking photos on the camera of a second or two, whist it autofocuses. A bit irritating especially when trying to take photos of my kids as they inevitable move and end up with blurry photo.
- the 'copy' and 'paste' functions are very clumsy - not sure if its the phone or the software but was much easier to do on the iphone.

Looking forward to the 8.1 update - maybe will help out with these minor quirks ?

These are major apps.

WhatsApp still works well on WP, iPlayer at least now has live TV access. Apparently radio may be spun off into a separate app, rather than trying to integrate.

Updated to 8.1 on the 1020 yesterday. It is almost subtle in its changes, but overall it makes a massive improvement over 8. Swiping left in the browser for back is simple and effective, finally having battery percentage (via the swipe down) means one less app. Weather forecast in the calendar - again, simple, but effective.

I updated to 8.1 dev preview the other day and its made me love windows phone so much more.

I found copy/paste easier on Windows Phone than iPhone where that magnifying lens gets in the way a bit. Perhaps you are just expecting it to work the same as on iPhone?

You know all about long pressing and holding down on text to get that large caret? The caret is deliberately set apart from where you are touching so your thumb doesn't obscure anything.

This became simpler and worse in 8.1 though.

There is already (and has been for a couple of years) a separate BBC Radio app for live radio although I find the ever popular TuneIn app more reliable. For catch up on BBC radio I now use the third party Listen Again app with the recent demise of catch up radio on the iPlayer app.

I normally use my Android tablet for TV while out and about as that lets you download programmes (as well as being having a much larger screen) which means I do not need to rely on getting a good mobile or wifi signal and can park up anywhere to watch.

And for talk type radio I use YourMuze.fm set to the lowest setting (approx 5MB per hour) for mobile.

That will work too on WM.
