Good news, everyone!

http://www.doctorwhonews.net/2014/06...614210008.html

"The "alternative" 50th Anniversary special for Doctor Who, The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot, is to receive an official release on DVD, its co-star Colin Baker revealed at the DWAS convention Myth Makers this afternoon. The actor reported that it would appear on an as-yet unscheduled special set featuring former Doctor Matt Smith.

No other details of what the overall set will comprise are available at present, though it is likely to be released both on DVD and Blu-ray format later this year.

The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot tells the tale of the attempts of 'classic' Doctors Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy and Peter Davison (who also wrote and directed the piece) to appear in the 50th Anniversary adventure, and their various encounters and mishaps along the way!
"

I hope it's blu ray as well. Probably the set is the rumoured one that will also contain "An Adventure in Space and Time" along with 2013's Matt Smith specials.

Oh, right. Not really interested in that, as I didn't think the Five(ish) Doctors thing was all that. I've got Adventure in Space and Time on DVD, as I have the other two.

I would like to see The Curse of Fatal Death and Dimentions in Time on DVD, though.

I absoloutely love Julia Sawalha in COFD. I'm a big fan of her in other things, like Jonathan Creek and Ab Fab. Also, it would be a great tribute to Kate O'Mara, if DIT was released. She was the central villain in this, after all.

Great stuff. Ta for that. Thought it was fantastic.

I've held off buying AAiSaT on DVD because I want it in all its HD goodness. If the rumoured set does not come out, I will import it from the US on blu ray.

Tiggerpooh, I'm with you on CotFD, not so much DiT.

AFAIK, neither are likely to ever appear on an official release. Something to do with the fact they were made for charity events and those involved gave their time and effort for free.

Not sure about CoFD, but DiT certainly has some sort of contractual dealio with its' stars to say that it can't be released commercially.

Actually, I think you're correct. I just saw a Wiki article about CoFD and apparently it has been released - on iTunes. No DVD release though...

I made my own 4 disc set of the 50th stuff. Only missed the after party. I also bought day and time on official dvd but not bought adventure in space and time yet. No doubt this will end up yet another double dip for me but still a welcome release as long as EVERYTHING is on it.

You missed a great show, then. The interviews were exciting. There were interesting interviews with Frazer Hines, also Deborah Watling, John Hurt and Peter Davison. Maybe if you look online, you may be able to find the after party on one of the video sharing websites.

Youtube is best, as I know of a great site to use. You can grab the video and save it to the PC. The website address is:

www.youtubeinmp4.com

Try clicking on the site, then going to youtube. Try downloading a clip as a test to see what you think.

This one is a great tribute to celebrate 50 years:

It's worth downloading and keeping. The music is brilliant too. I've got Orbital's version of the theme on a 'budget' Oribital hits CD called 'Halcyon'.

I was holding off on buying AAiSaT for some reason and now I know why - to get the Five(ish) Doctors Reboot, or so I am hoping. They sure like to see how many ways they can release the shows so we can buy them over and over just so we can buy a new added feature that they should have released with it at the start anyway.

The after party was probably the worst piece of TV in the history of the BBC so is worth watching from a historical point of view

there would be a lot of clearance needed for this to get out on dvd especially with the number of cameos and people involved and barrowmans music. All that takes time and as it was released 2 weeks after day was broadcast there was nowhere near enough time.

Oh dear lord, wasn't it awful?

Still, great news the Five(ish) will be on DVD somewhere. It was great fun.

I haven't seen the 5ish Drs, so am pleased it's out on DVD. Seems to have been popular and successful.

The afterparty is sitting on the Skyplus, unwatched. It was clearly going to be a big fat turd of a programme, but I might give it a go just so's I can see Jackie Lane.

I'd like to see Julia make an appearance in proper Doctor Who.

I understand the part of the Rani is available ...

Finally the real Doctor Who anniversary episode gets a DVD release.

The afterparty was pretty bad, wasn't it? . None of the former cast got much air time and the 1D link was truly cringe-worthy. If you missed it, you had a lucky escape. An epic fail.

Assuming someone at the bbc has just realised after all these months that it would be a good idea to release a '50th anniversary year' box set. Silly they didn't release it all as a box set from the start.

maybe they did and they are just doing the standard practice of seprate releases followed by a big box set later on.

What do you expect with those stupid little tw*ts in in. Quite frankly One Direction can go f*** themselves if they are thinking November 23rd is their day. They can have the 24th.
