The occasional song to tie in with whats happening on screen. I wouldn't want our soaps to become musicals, but if used very sparingly, this could be very effective. I'm not talking le mis or high school musical, this is what I'm talking about.
Imagine EE David's exit, Bianca, Carol David. This would have made it all the more emotional as he was leaving https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ocrXi3NMM4 |

Honestly Starry I don't think it's something I'd like to see in soap operas. Like I honestly do enjoy musicals but to me there is always an element of fantasy involved in musicals were you have to suspend reality to believe that they'd suddenly break out into song. I mean I know that Eastenders isn't always realistic but unless there was the right kind of circumstances I wouldn't be able to suspend belief to imagine that in real life Carol and David would suddenly burst out into song with each other.
Like maybe some time there would be the right set of circumstances but in my opinion it'd have to be at least slightly realistic but that's just me though. It's a really interesting idea though, definitely thinking outside of the box, it's just not for me. |

Not day to day but a musical one off would be interesting. Sharon singing I Hate Everything About You to Phil, Ronnie singing I Want Your Babies to Kat etc.

I can see where your coming from, but some of the lyrics could have been changed to reflect the circumstances. ie; instead of
Bathgate no more Linwood no more Methil no more Lochaber no more. we could have when you go will you send back, a letter from Manchester take a look at the railtrack from Sheffield to Nottingham Queen vic no more Laundrette no more market no more allotment no more Carol no more Bianca no more Sonia no more Morgan no more While skipping out the door with a big smile on his face.

Max Romeo's Wet Dream on the radio in Phelan and Anna's hotel room would've worked. Or Owen and Anna's.

I'm not sure it would work on a regular basis but a one off could be fun, imagine the cast of EE going through the repertoire of London songs, Lambeth Walk, Don't Dilly Dally, Down At The Old Bull And Bush, Boiled Beef And Carrots etc.
Phil could sing Under The Arches and Jessie Wallace could sing Fings Ain't Wot They Used To Be and there could be a full cast finale of Maybe It's Because I'm A Londoner with them all dressed as pearly kings and queens! |

Stevie Mac could change up the lyrics to Arctic Monkeys Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor to Michelle - 'Stop rolling your eyes at me I'll stop rolling my eyes at you'.

Then David gives his answer:
Carol no more Bianca no more Sonia no more Morgan no more While skipping out the door with a big smile on his face. ![]() ![]() ![]() I think posts like this have won me over to the musical idea haha, I actually enjoyed all of the Children in Need and Comic Relief musical style things they did and wouldn't mind seeing some more of those at the very least.
