Could there ever be a time where the studios do deals with Netflix first and we see films that are just out on DVD/bluray come on Netflix rather than Sky?

They have done in the past. If I recall, The Hobbit came to Netflix first. The problem is, Sky usually tie up the rights for years in advance to all of the studio's films so we're only likely to see "independent" films premiere on Netflix
