How much meat do you eat a week?

I reckon I eat about 3 small portions of meat a week so about 300g. Maybe a bit more if I have a sandwich or something. Less than a pound of uncooked meat though I would say. I try not to eat the cheap stuff that has been produced in dodgy conditions. I do miss my meat but I can't afford it. What's a sustainable amount of meat to eat?

I don't eat much. I had a grilled chicken breast on Thursday and that was my meat for the whole week. Can't remember the last time I had any red meat. I could go vegetarian in a heartbeat and not have much of a change in my diet. Dunno why I haven't really.

Why when you must enjoy the odd amount? Why subscribe yourself to a set lifestyle... be who you are and eat what you wish. I don't eat much meat, but I do enjoy quite a few meat dishes and it's good for protein.

Until recently I would have at least one portion per day - most of my meals contained meat. Then I was challenged to do a week without meat or fish - which I did and really enjoyed. It's been 3 weeks since that eat free week and I've had 2 meat meals in that time - one chicken curry my friend cooked, and one bucket of mussels at a restaurant. And I've really not missed meat at all, there's loads of great veggie recipes I've found and I've discovered I like lentils, chickpeas and the like. I can't see myself ever going full vegetarian - quite frankly I can't be bothered to check labels and avoid Lea & perrins and parmesan cheese, but I have decided to not have meat in my flat. Other people's houses or meals out then I'll tuck into a steak no issues, but my cooking from now on will be meat free

It's also a lot cheaper to not have to buy meat every week!

As I don't eat breakfast it's pretty much every meal. I'll occasionally have something like goats cheese and beetroot on my sarnies at work but that's rare, they usually contain some kind of meat/fish. Our evening meal is always meat/fish based, I'll occasionally make something like a mushroom and parmesan risotto but that's very very rare. I just enjoy meat, I've yet to taste a meat I don't like and will happily try anything. I do tend to find that if I don't have meat in a meal I miss it.

I eat meat / fish probably 6 nights a week. I like meat. The last 2 nights for instance we have had chicken and tonight we will be having fish. The one meat free day is when my husband works late so we will have beans or eggs on toast.

I generally eat more chicken or turkey than anything. We only have beef about once a fortnight.

I used to be a vegetarian and didn't eat meat for years. But my Mum would go into spasms every Christmas day trying to figure out what to feed me. I told her that I was happy with veggies but she insisted on doing nut roasts and things which I hated. One year though I smelt the turkey and I wanted it. I wanted it all - and I couldn't resist. I have eaten meat ever since.

Loads. Always have some sort of meat on my sandwiches at work and very rarely eat anything vegetarian at night.

No meat for me, just fish. I eat a decent portion every day.

My hubby eats meat in ready-meals / sandwiches / pasties / pies etc, but doesn't buy and cook raw meat, so the amounts are quite small. I'd say he eats 7 smallish portions a week.

None for me - but I do cook meat for others.

I eat lots. Our evening meal will have meat or fish in it nine times out of ten. I don't eat meat at breakfast or lunch during the week though.

300g of meat sounds like a decent sized sandwich!

Thinking about it, I do not eat that much really.
If I do my own meals I tend not to eat meat at all, if my husband cooks we usually have meat, but not that much within the meal.

I wish more people would think like you do. If you can't afford meat from an animal that's had a decent life the you should do without. I don't care what your argument is because you don't have one!

On that note we eat probably 5 portions a week for our dinner and try to have at least a couple of meat-free days. Sandwiches for work and lunch are mostly cheese-based.

I don't eat a lot of red meat. I do eat a lot of chicken and fish though.
