I eat red meat once a month maybe, as a treat. I'm not vegetarian , but I try to avoid eating red meat as much as possible. I eat chicken, oyster mushrooms and some fish instead.

None. Animals are friends, NOT food!
Not in my house they're not.

I wish more people would think like you do. If you can't afford meat from an animal that's had a decent life the you should do without. I don't care what your argument is because you don't have one!
I think because it's tasty is a pretty good argument. I generally buy good quality meat but I don't really bother to check whether it's free range or whatever. If I couldn't afford it I'd buy cheaper meat if it tasted good. It doesn't necessarily have to do with price though, I love foie gras and veal.

When it comes to food and meat, it's all about taste and enjoyment.

Why do they all eat each other then?

Rubbish. They wouldn't be made out of tasty meat if they weren't meant to be eaten.

I'd estimate somewhere between 5- 10kg dependant on how much money I have left over after bills.

Are they? I've never known an animal do my shopping for me, buy me a pint, led me 20 quid or any other friendly thing.

They are food because they taste nice.

I generally eat meat twice a day, lunch and dinner. Meat is the important part of a meal. I am fond of saying: salad isn't food. Salad is what the food eats.

What's a sustainable amount of meat to eat?
I'm not sure there is such a thing. A veggie friend came to stay recently and she is the picture of health. In fact after her visit I actually felt better and now some days I don't eat meat at all.
Who'd have thunk it.

Far too much I fear.

The time I felt healthiest was when I only ate meat twice a week, fish twice a week, and the other three days only vegetables/pulses/grains.
