Humax Foxsat HDR Twin Tuner

Hi there help required please.

If for example I wish to record a programme on a certain channel i lose the ability to watch or record other channels.
Example last evening i was watching a programme on BBC1 and decided ad hoc to record an article that was coming up so pressed the record button then i went to switch to ITV but was unable to. I accessed the EPG but it was as if ITV didn't exist. After the article i had recorded had finished everything reverted back to normal.

Not the first time it's happened but there's obviously a conflict or non compatibility happening somewhere within the set up. Also if i go to record two programmes that are on at the same time or overlap i sometimes have to cancel one due to conflict. All very frustrating so any suggestions would be gratefully received.

I've had the Humax Foxsat a number of years possibly five or six so it's not a new one if that helps.

Thanks in advance.

Check the signal strength screen, does it show both LNB inputs are working?.

Another thing to check is that someone hasn't reconnected the LNB feeds up incorrectly. The Foxsat has three F-types on the back so double check the LNB feeds are in the two outer INPUT sockets and not with one on the middle loop through socket.

Always assuming it has two LNB feeds of course

Could be a lnb issue.

Firstly check the box is actually in two cable mode.

Using the remote

Menu Right Into Setup Menu so Freesat Tune is highlighted

Don't look at the screen - press RED GREEN YELLOW BLUE GREEN YELLOW BLUE in succession.

OK on Antenna Setting

Following are correct settings for a fixed dish on Astra28.2/28.5E with two cables connected to the Foxsat

Antenna Type - Fixed Antenna
Connection Type Two Cable(Same)

If not change the options (I have seen one recent post where someones Foxsat apparently changed to single cable mode all by itself)

You could prove the second cable is OK by switching the inputs.

Thank you Nigel & Chris all checked, present & correct.

Graham thank you very much our Connection was indeed set to single cable which I have now changed with your guidance.

Now I can record two programmes simultaneously HOWEVER having checked I now get the same problem with channels 'disappearing' when recording two channels.

Progress made but still help required.

Once again many thanks.

I would suspect you have a failing lnb.

Or a dodgy cable perhaps?

Try doing a factory reset on the box, as I recall that's the only way to set the box back to two LNB feeds - during the initial setup it checks the feeds and sets the box according to what it finds. Once it's in single feed mode you need a factory reset to cure it.

Not true, using the set up hidden menu does exactly the same (but has the advantage you know the current operating mode). It's the only way to use a Foxsat with multiple satellites using diseqc or a motorised dish. Whatever you read is either flawed or simply incorrect, or simply a very limited recall. Clearly you have very limited experience with this box.

Hence the suggestion to swap the input connections in post 4. If tuner 2 cable was faulty the box would report a no signal error.
