The Ratings Thread (Part 60)
Quote:
We have been watching all 5 episodes of Happy Valley on iplayer over the last two days since returning from holiday, having read the rave reviews and seen the great ratings.
What an outstanding, if a bit far fetched, drama. Sarah Lancashire has been brilliant. The Broadchurch of 2014? Continuation of: The Ratings Thread (Part 59) |

Soap Ratings 2 June 2014
Coronation Street topped Monday evening's soap ratings (June 2) as Tina McIntyre's storyline reached its tragic conclusion, overnight figures show.
8.2m (39.1%) tuned in at 7.30pm on ITV and 196k (0.8%) on +1 as Tina's life continued to hang in the balance following Rob's attack. The audience increased to 8.39m (36.2%) at 8.30pm and 242k (1.0%) on +1 as Tina finally lost her fight for life. EastEnders bounced back following its tough competition last week, bringing in 7.37m (34.7%) at 8pm on BBC One as Honey shared her big news with Billy. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 333k (2.4%) at 10.30pm. Emmerdale attracted 6.18m (32.2%) at 7pm on ITV and 151k (0.7%) on +1 as Chas had a decision to make over Moira and James's secret. Hollyoaks had a strong evening, appealing to 1.03m (6.1%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 115k (0.5%) on +1 as Sinead and Diane discovered that Finn was involved in Blessing's attack. Later, the Finn and Blessing story gave E4's first look its best ratings since Katy's funeral on April 10, with 941k (4.9%) watching at 7pm and 155k (0.7%) catching up on +1. Over on Channel 5, Neighbours entertained 667k (9.8%) at 1.45pm and 680k (5.2%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away grabbed 214k (3.1%) at 1.15pm, 539k (3.5%) at 6pm and 371k (2.2%) with 5*'s first look at 6.30pm. Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.4m (20.6%) at 1.45pm on BBC One. |

Yorkie is response to your comment. Its because there are around 8million cats in the UK and I would have thought more would be interested in a cat documentary than another Crimewatch.

Corrie and EE should be reasonably pleased with those figures. The share for the 1st Corrie probably where it should have been all last week and something for them to try and hold onto and EE share regaining the levels it had before last week. Now they have to face the challenge of the football to see what they can hold onto.

Shame EastEnders wasn't higher. Decent for Corrie. I think more were interested in seeing the fall. They stretched it out with the death, didn't feel like a big moment.

If BARB data is reliable then about 23m people were watching TV at 9pm last night, less than 4m watched ITVs cat documentary.
I would say the reason is simply that many people were not aware of it being on, since there isn't a very good reason to tune into ITV on the off chance there isn't a soap on. ITV are the soap channel after all. They will struggle to get big numbers for anything other than soap unless they massively promote it. |

So Corries boost has just got it back to last years levels which shows how it has been down so far this year. The question now is can it hold these gains in the coming weeks.

Proves that people haven't abandoned the show though, for all the talk of it being in a crisis viewers came back to it for a good storyline.

BBC Three's bad run continued last night. Just 170,000 (1%) tuned in to the series premiere of Badults. |

Its going to be interesting to see how well the soaps hold up, up against the football. Its not often all the soaps are in the same boat and are aiming to hold as many viewers as possible.
