JK Rowling novel to be TV drama
Having already featured in the Harry Potter films, Bafta-winning actor Michael Gambon has signed up for another JK Rowling adaptation.
He will appear in the BBC One version of her novel The Casual Vacancy, which will be produced with American broadcaster HBO.
The three-part series is based on the author's first grown-up work since the best-selling Potter saga.
It centres on the fictional English village of Pagford, whose idyllic façade contradicts the tensions among the population.
W1A's Rufus Jones and Monica Dolan are in the cast Gambon will play delicatessen owner Howard Mollison and will be joined by a cast including Keeley Hawes, Rory Kinnear and Julia McKenzie.
Monica Dolan and Rufus Jones will also feature in the mini-series. The former played a BBC press officer in comedy W1A, with Jones portraying a hapless entertainment producer.
The drama will also feature Waterloo Road actress Keeley Forsyth, who will appear alongside newcomer Abigail Lawrie as her daughter Krystal.

The Casual Vacancy has sold more than six million copies worldwide since its 2012 release.
