Watchdog and Celebrity Masterchef are a fairly solid line-up for the relatively weaker Wednesdays. Hopefully GBBO and The Apprentice can help to strengthen Wednesdays too.

The BBC wanted a Christmas Day special for this year. It wasn't possible. I have every confidence that Sherlock will lead Christmas night in 2015. It will smash everything else out of the water because anticipation will be high. Will it replace CtM though? It will be nice to see something genuinely different on Christmas Day.

Would be fantastic having Sherlock on Christmas Day, would get the rating of the year.
What would happen to Doctor Who though? Would it stay on the big day or get moved? A potential combination of Sherlock, EE, Miranda, Mrs Brown and Strictly would be a ratings winner.

There would be space for DW as well in an early slot because last year Strictly took the 5pm slot - which it worked very well in! Miranda would probably have to air very early though to be on Xmas Day too. Sherlock will be 8:30 at the earliest and MBB would be best not to start later than 10pm. I agree, it would be a very strong lineup for Xmas Day.
I can't believe I'm doing a Christmas Day schedule for 2015 but this would be ratings gold imo.

Even if Miranda doesn't make a series, I'll be surprised if we never get a Christmas Special to tie up the loose ends of the last series cliffhanger. Surely she can't be too busy to make just one episode.

I think BBC1 will blow ITV out of the water this year at Christmas, with Corrie so weak ( and being that its their srongest performer on the day) its bound to remain that way with SB in charge and the new drama this year Esio Trot will be dynamite.
I suspect if Esio Trot does well, then the BBc might adapt other stories from Roal Dahl

I just read an interview with Sarah Hadland (plays Stevie) from January this year saying that there'd probably be Christmas specials for this year. I hope that's the case. The sooner we get the specials, the better. Christmas 2015 is already looking crowded enough, it would be nice to have a new addition to the line-up this year rather than a 2013 repeat.

I do hope so. She could maybe do an Only Fools final trilogy style to tie up the series. I wasn't impressed with last years Christmas schedule, Holby on Christmas Eve

I'm a massive EE fan and even I think 1 hour on Christmas Day is an overkill. I'd like the normal 30 minute episode. Much easier viewing to fit around other programmes or activities. Plus I'm sure they'd attract a greater casual audience by sticking to 30 mins. If they insist on an hour long, they can have that on Christmas Eve or Boxing Day where it's normally much less crowded.
EastEnders will hopefully be much stronger through the autumn and will deserve its traditional spot or two on the big day despite last year's underpar festive performance.

They should axe the omnibus completely. Most people have iPlayer or recording facilities nowadays. Plus it's consistently messing up the official ratings for EE - particularly on Fridays. They would be better off airing a film or 'Best of BBC Three' section since recently they've been repeating Bad Education and Uncle. Almost certainly when BBC Three goes online only, it would be good to have some of the programmes still aired on TV.

Ideally that BBC3 going online only should be not be approved by BBC Trust.

I think they should split it as it works really well ending the first half on a big cliffhanger. The last few have been written as such, the Beeb just haven't split them and don't seem interested in doing so as long as Downton is in the schedule.

This year's looks like it'll be one of those reveals that EastEnders does so well. It was revealed to us in late May so that's 7 months build up. The ideal scenario would be for it to be split in two with the reveal at the end of the 1st episode ala Stax but it probably won't be.
Agree about the omnibus, it should be on BBC Two over the weekend or axed altogether.
