Oh yes, forgot the Edinburgh TV festival! When does that end?

That would be ok - provided Atlantis doesnt bomb of course!!!

The BBC ran a trail for Doctor Who recently, the first time it was shown was the 30th, so count exactly three months and you get the 30th August, its been discussed before that is the most likely start date. The DS DW forum has been speculating this and i am sure someone actually confirmed it.

Elsewhere, a fairly confident 23rd or 30th Aug has been mentioned, which would be more in line with S7 starts. And no-one has been able to cofirm whether the reported 13 episodes includes the Christmas one or not, or whether the final episode is a two-parter (as has been suggested), meaning that it's technically 12 episodes but actually 13 parts over 13 weeks.

The talent on BGT this year is so underwhelming that one of the acts in the final actually got buzzed. This is the first time ever in the history of the competition, a finale act has been buzzed by a judge. This shows how weak the talent this year has been.

It's good that you are watching, as you can see what the final of a major Saturday night talent show should look like, rather than the second rate ones you usually watch.

Meanwhile the last 3 acts just received standing ovations from all 4 judges, showing just how strong the talent on the final is this year.

The 23rd of August is probably that likely start date on the day the TV festival ends.

All four managed to stand up at the same time - must be the greatest tv moment in history. I predict a 5 second peak of 30m.

The 23rd would work well because it would still allow Atlantis to finish early February. After that six nations take hold of the schedules. Atlantis is surely going to have a latter stage SCD to boost it and continuing it into January would possibly have a Voice leg up too!

Only one of the finalists has a potential career internationally and theyre not even British!

It would have a better rating given winter scheduling. It pushes figures up.

Clearly the BBC have a fondness for Atlantis so i think late Autumn through to winter would be ideal for it. Plus if it starts following on from DW that could boost it a bit too.

Speaking of Saturday nights on BBC1, has no one mentioned the new 5 part entertainment series hosted by Jason Manford? It's called:

A Question of Sport: Super Saturday and instead of questions, the teams have to compete in physical games. It also features Matt Dawson and Phil Tuffnel. What are your thoughts?

BBC one daytime is filming a new quiz show called "The Edge" as well so good to see them trying new entertainment ideas.

I do wonder if "Atlantis" may have to work harder for BBC one primetime though in order to get a third run. Charlotte Moore seemed very keen on it before series one aired. Could be a strong autumn for her channel.

I would reboot "All Creatures Great and Small" or some sort of similar "Heartbeat" family drama for Saturdays in the autumn against the "X Factor"

6.00 Pointless
7.00 Doctor Who
7.45 Lottery
8.00 The Great British Bake Off
9.00 Period Drama

Relaunch a "new" Strictly Come Dancing in January 2015 on Sundays.

Doctor Who usually starts on a Bank Holiday weekend. I'd say August 31st is likely.

The Bank Holiday in August (excluding Scotland) is Monday 25th August, so the 23rd would seem right.

And fits to the end of the TV festival. Maybe Capaldi will turn up!

Its very much on the line imo. Merlin solved a problem for five years but any hopes that Atlantis would fit seamlessly in its place were misplaced-thus we are talking about series 2 being make or break rather than a shoe-in for another long runner. Iv still got four episodes of Atlantis still to watch clogging up the recorder-its got a way to go for my vote.

SCD works very well on Saturdays though. Would there be any gain for the BBC by experimenting with their top Saturday night show?

What about this for Sundays though:

6.00 Dickensian
6.30 Countryfile
7.30 Strictly Come Dancing: The Results
8.00 The Great British Bake Off
9.00 Last Tango in Halifax

If Atlantis continues to reach its 5.5m average it'll get a third series. I read on another forum that there is only a three series plan anyway.
